What's going on?

My H is working out of town, which sucks. He's scheduled to come home tomorrow but said he might be back tonight. That would be great but he will not interrupt the binge-watching of shows he doesn't like I'd planned on. 

Other than that, SSDD. I took yesterday off and did nothing. Nothing. It was glorious.

I definitely woke up on the wrong side of the bed today. 

It's snowing, and supposed to change over to freezing rain later, so that will suck for my evening commute.

My normal 25 minute commute took me an hour and ten minutes due to a super fun freezing rain/snow/hail mix. I’m so over winter. 

Im also in a funk. I have no reason to be I just am.

We have snow-to-freezing-rain later too.  A lot of students took the day off so it’s quiet here, I’m having a productive catching-up-on-paperwork day.  I have a mild on and off headache that I think started when I realized how much baking I have to do between now and Valentine’s Day.

I've had many days like that also, PPs.  But I'm actually in a fairly good mood today.  My end-of-month reports are done.  So that work stress is gone.  I'm still not 100%, but feeling better (finally).

Weather-wise, it is gloomy and rainy all day.

My cat, Nip, made me smile and laugh the other day.  She is very begging when it comes to food and treats.  She will often meow and meow when one of us is in the kitchen.   Some of you may remember she was diagnosed with diabetes around Thanksgiving.  She gets one shot in the early evening and our typical routine is we'll fill her food bowl and then give her the shot while she is distracted with eating.  I don't think she usually notices the shot.  But she does need to stand still and not move for 30ish seconds.

Yesterday, she was doing her usual meowing when I was in the kitchen.  But the moment I pulled out her insulin vial from the fridge, her meowing intensified and got frenzied!  Apparently she realizes that insulin=getting fed, lol.

As an aside, I knew that dogs and cats have a much thicker skin than people.  But, now that I have to give her shots, it really hits home the difference!  We joke that she's the "little rhino".

Feeling blerg-y today.  Weather sucks.  It's Tuesday.  Everything is meh. 

Definitely hitting that time in winter where it's post-holidays and there's not much to look forward to until the weather gets better.  Especially since it's going to be rainy instead of cold enough to snow.  

We are looking into some activities to get DefConn plugged into here soon.

I started my day with an appointment at the endodonist.  Verdict is that I need a root canal redone - ugh.  Hopefully that will do the trick for this tooth that has been acting up on and off.  

I'm work from home the rest of the day.  It's snowing and roads are terrible.  They cancelled DH's route today so we are both at home.  I have a haircut this afternoon but nothing else.

It's definitely those winter blah days.  Every year I wish I had scheduled a trip to a sunny place.  Especially when I see FB posts of others enjoying the warmth.  This year we are going to Alaska in Sept so will have to wait until then.

This week has been blah! Yesterday plumbers were here to work on hot water heaters. Thankfully they didn't need to be replaced but several valves, recirculating timers and expansion tank did. Everything but the expansion tank got done yesterday. It had to be ordered and will be done tomorrow. Today the ice maker in our not quite three year old refrigerator was replaced for the second time. Thankfully Samsung covered that! Apparently the genius who replaced the first one replaced it with the wrong ice make and did it improperly AND it was a Samsung sent service person. UGH home ownership isn't all it's cracked up to be at times!

I've been in a funk ever since I got home from Florida. I'm sure this weather hasn't helped. I really need some sunshine but it doesn't look like we are getting any anytime soon. H says every year about now I threaten to divorce him and move south. This year I may really consider it! Luckily we are going south for three weeks next month but that won't be here soon enough for my tastes! I hate winter in Indiana!

On the bright side I'm going to see the grand twins next week! I haven't seen them since the middle of January. I can't wait to see those little guys. That will brighten my mood I know!

My dad went into the hospital on Sunday after a fall.  Last night, we took K's mom to the ER w/severe abdominal pain (8/10, with her crying and little yelps).  After a TWELVE HOUR ER wait, she's in getting a CT.  I'm so mad.

Also, exhausted.  I just spent about an hour salvaging a client relationship.  I did it, I think, but I'm glad I did.  I think they're good clients, they just had a bad person managing their case.

I have a facial and a massage today. Tbh it feels more like a chore. I’m trying to save money, so I asked Massage Envy to pause my membership. Turns out you can’t just pause it, you have to pay $10 a month for the pause which lets you use your existing sessions. Otherwise you can’t use them at all, which is totally bullshit. I said fine, signed the “pause” paperwork, and gave myself a three month freeze to get my existing sessions out of the way. Then they freaking charged me the full membership amount again this month. So I’m frustrated. But I still have to use up my sessions so here I am.

i woke up in the middle of the night and I feel like I’m on the verge of getting sick again. Boo. I skipped the gym this morning and got extra sleep instead so hopefully that helps. I’ll probably go to bed early and drug myself with NyQuil too.

Varuna - I hope your dad and K's mom end up ok with quick healing!  And that ER wait is insane!  Is it the only one in her area?

I hope those with the winter blues can get some sustained sunshine and get out of their funks!

Last night was good.  I picked up DD and saw that there are 20 kids in her new class.  The box of Valentine's I had already purchased contains 16 cards, I am not buying another box of cards for just 3 more cards.  So I'm going to save them until next year.  I also had to sign up for an "Other" item for DD's Valentine's party since she just moved up to the next class and most items were already selected.  I put Cheez-Its, since we have so many individual bags of them, but only because I couldn't think of anything else!

H was able to get out to do more of the karate with his friend.  He got home in time to sit with DD for 5 minutes before her bedtime.

We are getting a wintry mix today, but so far its been just rain.  I'm sure everything will freeze overnight. 

MIL will probably come over, she has been depressed over losing her job and DD always makes her happy.  She just starts crying at the drop of a hat right now.  She is a bus driver and got into an accident that was not her fault.  Both her and her aide had the same story that a guy tried to pass them on the left while they slowed down for a right turn.  A car was coming the other way, so the other driver got back in front of MIL and hit her during her turn.  The cop wrote it up as MIL rear ended the other driver because that's what he had said and he was believed against the 2 people in the bus.  She is trying to get the police report fixed, but the insurance company said they won't insure her anymore.  So she is done with that company. 

Companies around here are always hiring bus drivers, even her old job said she could go back anytime.  But she got used to driving a mini van school bus and doesn't want to go back to anything bigger.  So I don't know what she will do.  She wanted to work 2 more years as a driver with a mini-van, but we will see what she does now.  She collects FILs SS and will get unemployment once it gets straightened out (the state thought she was still on disability from her hospitalization).  And her BF helps pay bills, so financially she will be ok.  She just is feeling really down about this job because she enjoyed it so much.  I'm also not sure how to help her because she never listens to any advice her "kids" give her.

I need this day to be over. I hate our copiers because they keep breaking and the repair techs show up when they feel like it. One of the social workers came up wearing too much perfume and it’s giving me a headache and making me want to sneeze. Finally, my airhead coworker who never does anything is bothering the guys I work most closely with, and when she does that, I end up doing their work too. I wish she would just retire already.

When I'm bored on here (so, all the time), I scope out the "recent activity" on the right over there. It's usually nothing but I've found some gems of wall posts that were intended as private messages and found a ton of spammers that way. They get smart - wall posts don't show as "activity" anywhere else so it's hard to find them.

OliveO, that sucks about MIL.  I know several drivers where the Mr. works ahven't wanted to go back to full and do airport limo and uber and do OK.
But it's a whole different game

Dad has been discharged, which is a whole 'nother issue, but I'm headed over there after work to help out.  The "your parents are getting too old" day is here.  I've been prepped for it, but I would've rather it happened when I wasn't feeling like crap myself.

K's mom finally went home around lunch.  Nothing on the CT, bloodwork, or urine analysis.  So now, they're saying nerve pain and her PCP is supposed to order an MRI.  I'm pissed at a 16 hour wait in the ER to get basically nothing.  I think there's a pain Rx, but who knows.

Hope that your dad and K's mom are better. I'm sorry about that 16 hour wait (whew, that's a long time-especially if there was no change).

I'm sorry to hear this about your MIL. I hope things go better fot her soon.
