Wedding Woes

martedi

That's ^ Tuesday in Italian.  (You probably knew that @ILoveBeachMusic ;))  It is getting trickier to keep track of the days.

The College Board announced some big changes to AP exams over the weekend and NY made a decision over Regents exams yesterday (our state's end-of-year subject comprehension tests).  Totally agree with both decisions.  About to log into a meeting over our school's presentation of this to parents and how we'll go about teaching AP and Regents classes.  Good times.  How's everyone else?

Netflix went down yesterday on our TV {had to reboot router} so that was great. I feel awful for relying so much on TV right now for BabyKitten but it's really only way I get anything done.

I cannot do anymore Wiggles, so I put on "Elmo in Grouchland"

I know it sounds weird, but housing market hasn't crashed {yet} so we're hoping to move before it does. A few houses on our street have been going quick.
There's one we really like and has basically everything we were wanting in a house.

We'll see. Bank approved us for what we wanted, so we'll see. We are still decluttering massively
  • We got up at 5am and took the dogs for a hike. Beautiful sunrise. They've closed all of the parks in my county, but thankfully there's one trail we know about that no one else is ever on.

Definitely going stir crazy, especially with my BIL here. I actually miss working in my office.

That’s a cute house! Are realtors still doing showings?
  • Insomnia has kicked my ass the last two nights; it’s tough and I wake up feeling drained. I might have to add some regular coffee to my decaf today.

Work is busy, which is making me feel more productive and focused which I haven’t really felt in a while. I’m restless WFH and I’ve only left to run each day. But it’s sunny and warm today so maybe I’ll get a walk and a run in!
  • Got my workout in really early this morning since DS2 is using our exercise room as his office. Not sure what I will be doing once SIL and the boys arrive. I might even have to get it done even earlier! I am fortunate that we have a treadmill so I can continue exercising (and some dumbbells). DS2 is really looking forward to using the treadmill today. He said he has really  missed his gym. I'm going to start working and the final (non-digital) photograph album today. Hope I can get it done before Saturday.

Sì so che martedì significa Tuesday! When I saw it though I though of Mardi Gras - different language oh well. French was my first foreign language even though I am much more proficient in Italian now.
  • @charlotte989875 Yes and no. The "video" is basically a virtual visit. I know one house recently had on the description that you had 30mins, and 2 people {realtor plus one} at a time and zero touching.
This one says to look at the virtual tour before booking a showing - probably to figure out timing, etc.
Tbh I would personally buy this place based on the virtual tour, but want to see kitchen in person as it semi-seems narrow and just want to see.

@MissKittyDanger, wow! I can see why you all like it.  Looks really nice, move-in ready, and with a lot of perks.

At least in the States, I've heard realtors are often doing virtual showings.  My own realtor sent an e-mail reassuring her list that they can still buy/sell houses and she can arrange for virtual showings.

But the reality is the real estate market is largely in a standstill.  People can still move but, unless they have to, most people are understandably staying put until things are back to normal.  Normally, this is a "hot" time!  Spring is the busiest season of the year.  Especially for home purchases.  But experts are predicting the "buying/selling" busy season will be pushed out to summer this year.  Which will also cascade to a busier fall and winter, as compared to normal.

  • So here is where I've lost track of time!  You all were talking about Easter the other day.  Which put it on my radar to go see when Easter is or, more importantly to me, when is Good Friday.  Because that's a holiday at my work.  With so much turmoil going on and the sudden shift to working from home, I completely forgot there is a holiday this month.

I have a wall calendar in my cube where holidays are CLEARLY marked for anticipation, lol.  But I don't have that at home so, imagine my surprise when I discovered yesterday that THIS Fri. is Good Fri.!  Apparently I'm having a shorter than expected week, lol.

  • I’m feeling melancholy today. Lay offs are imminent for us. I think by Friday we’ll have about half of the staff we currently do, possibly less. My heart hurts.

This morning some guy was skateboarding on the freeway. Well, on the shoulder, but still. My light traffic is still most other states’ rush hour. It’s not like the freeway was empty.

My one upside for the day is that we’re required to wear masks at work now so I’ve stopped wearing foundation. I’m okay with saving money on product and letting my face have a break.

  • Today sucks. This year sucks. I hate everything.

Mom's taken a sharp turn. Waiting to find out if home healthcare is setting up hospice today or tomorrow.

DH and I are at my parents right now. We’re waiting to make a pharmacy run for mom and trying to keep dad sane.
  • @MissKittyDanger that house is great!
@climbingwife I never think to do sunrise hikes/walks but that sounds fantastic - maybe we will do that this week since the weather is supposed to be pretty good

Kiddo finally slept through the night again last night and it's amazing how much more rested I feel!!  Trying to plow through some work while he's napping.  We'll definitely go for a long walk later and I may try to do some free weights or bands later today too.  Hanging out with the baby so much plus working at the dining room table on a laptop really has my neck and shoulders in a bad place.

On the plus side, the weather is gorgeous today and I already have a bunch of windows open.
  • I’m so so sorry @mrsconn23

I'd only be up for that if the sunrise happened later in the day, lmao.

Happy Birthday @banana468 it is crazy how quickly the whole world has changed.

DH's security clearance came through today! Which means he can officially start the on boarding process. I don't know what that means but people who work in offices generally seem to so I smile and nod. I hope he likes this new place. He hated his old job but my friend's husband works at the new place and he works a lot of long hours, so we'll see.

We picked up our new passports yesterday, which was amazing timing because today I  received an email from the embassy saying that no new full passport applications are being processed, only emergency passports are being issued. Idk why but that freaked me out a little.

DS is due for his 18month shots next week. The hospital isn't even making appointments because they have been advising people not to come if they don't need to. I am torn because our current insurance will be cancelled May 1st and idk exactly when our new insurance will be issued. I can get the shots for free from the government hospital but I wanted to talk to his pediatrician about a referral to a speech pathologist. He isn't saying a lot of words, really only Mama/ Dada clearly. He seems to be right on the cusp of really talking but he has been that way for a couple months. I would like to get an evaluation done while we still have insurance.

  • @mrsconn23 oh hugs :(

@short+sassy Right!? My only down side is all the stairs and trying to figure out how to contain a toddler. Since they're all carpet - except basement - we may leave most of them and plan out getting 1 more baby gate for basement/family room to contain her if we need to.

A lot are virtual here as well, and even speaking to the bank they aren't telling people to stop. Our house will likely go relatively quick since town home/row houses {like mine} are a hot sell
We have also accepted that if anything says stop, we immediately stop. But sounds like everything is bound to move really quick - so we'll see

    @banana468 happy bday!!

Happy birthday @banana468 wow I remember the party you threw for you H, and now we're here
  • I'm sorry to hear that @mrsconn23.  I'm thinking of you and what you and your family are going through.

I hope everyone is doing okay so far.  Such a crazy, weird time.  Hubby had to go into the office to pick up some supplies.  They are making it so that they have to schedule a time to enter the building, put on gloves beforehand, and only have 15 minutes to get in and out.  This is the first time he has got out in two and a half weeks.  It must be weird for him.  I had to go to the vet today, but all that is is handing off the dog, sitting in my car, and then getting her back.  We have high hopes that she had a good check-up, because she gained 2.5 lbs and they said her blood is not coming out as easy as it was.  Hooray!  Feeding her a whole extra meal for the past month is finally bearing fruit.

Wild turkeys walked past our house this morning.  It would be hard for us to be more in the middle of town, so that was really cool to see.  They looked delicious.

  • @MissKittyDanger That house looks amazing!  And that lot looks huge.

  • @banana468 Happy birthday!!!
  • @mrsconn23, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom!

@banana468, happy birthday!  Even if it couldn't have much fanfare.

@kerbohl, I hope your dog's test results come back good!  Sounds like she's been improving.

  • @MissKittyDanger - love the house!  It reminds me of the homes I see on HGTV that are located in Canada.
