Wedding Woes

Thursday

Prudie is a ride today.  LOL

My poor toe has turned all the colors since yesterday.  At least it doesn't hurt.

I'm trying an acne patch for a zit.  My skin has been terrible the last few months (hello stress) and I need something that will speed up blemish issues and also that I won't pick (again, hello stress).  So we'll see.  I hope it works.

Anyone watch this week's BD Med premiere?  Do we need to start another mega-thread?

Re: Thursday

  • Ugh @banana468, that is so, so much.  I'm sorry.  ((hugs and bourbon))
  • Oh @banana468, that is all so hard.  I'm so sorry.

@mrsconn23 I use the Clinique acne mask once a week, but I also throw it on specific blemishes as spot treatment.  I like it because it dries in 5 minutes.  I just used it this morning b/c I have a pimple that was angry and red this morning.  Put it on the spot while I did everything else and then wiped it off.  Had reduced the redness to almost unseeable, the size to probably half, and not nearly as painful.

I'm trying to get my head right at work.  I might be burned out, but there's still stuff to do and I need to do it.  Blerg.  Otherwise, SSDD around here.

I had a fantastic serving of the Costco budget Whistle Pig (a rye but delicious) last night.  It was needed while I watched Schitt's Creek.

And thank you @VarunaTT!  It's a lot to unpack and yet I know that right now I'm fortunate.  It's a matter of balance and this is one of those times the balance sucks.   I am hopeful it gets better but it's going to take time.
  • Damn @banana468 that’s all a lot. Does your brother live closer to your parents and could help drive if needed?

We’re both busy and not; we’ve got a lot going on but part of what I’m doing now is training folks on my team for when I’m out so I don’t have a lot to do specifically besides guide the cross-training so it’s like I introduce projects and plans then wait for folks to have problems or check in throughout. I’ve got some other things to get off my desk before I leave so trying to tackle those. I’m out tomorrow and already checked out.

We’re meeting a potential pediatrician today, so hopefully they’ll work out. They come highly recommended by my PCP so I’m hoping it’s a good match mainly because I’m too tired to look for others.

Brother has been AMAZING.   He's the one who clued me into the signs my dad had had a stroke before he was admitted to the hospital because he was doing laundry at my parents' house.   At the time he was furloughed and he and his boyfriend have been fantastic in all of this.  He lives about 10 minutes away.

However brother's now back at work as of Monday and because he's in retail management his hours are going to take him away from being available to help them often.   He can help drive when there is free time however that may be only on a Sunday so it doesn't help all the time.   We have options to get mom and dad to places but my mom is just.... a terrible driver.   It's almost a family joke but now that she's in her late 60s it's just worse.

  • Hugs @banana468

Not much here today. I’m still at the other work site where I’m honestly not needed. Last night I got into a fight with my bff because she was she found the riots and protesting “distasteful” due to the damage to businesses so she couldn’t agree with them. I lost my shit. Ugh.

  • So BabyKitten had her 2yr old appt but it was all virtual since we don't need shots.
We're battling sleep issues right now.
First it was taking forever to fall asleep but she'd sleep all night. Now it's she falls asleep fine but wakes up and is up for hours in middle of the night, so we're dragging next day.

We have a few options that we're to try, and follow up in 2 weeks.

I am hopeful but not thrilled with my child.

Idk what else to say :\
  • @banana468, that's a lot to being dealing with.  I know it makes it so much worse when both work life and personal life are going to hell in a handbasket at the same time.  I'm glad you have your brother who has been able to help so much and is strongly on the same page with you.

@mrsconn23, thanks for providing our regular Thurs. dose of Prudie.  Seeing all that lovely distraction felt especially good today, lol.

I'm still not back to 100% today, but I'm feeling a LOT better than I did yesterday and am back at work.  Too much to do in my personal life, but work isn't as busy today as I thought it would be, at least.  I needed to take yesterday off physically, but it was a good emotional rest also and I feel like there isn't much of the week left anyway and now I can make it! Lol.

I also had a happy treat this morning.  I stopped at Wendy's on my way in because I had a buy one, get one for $1 breakfast sandwich offer in their app.  I tried that new Breakfast Baconator they've been advertising.  Wow!  It was really good and blew away my expectations!  Especially considering I got it at a fast food place, lol.  The one special thing it has that you won't find in any other FF breakfast sandwich is hollandaise sauce.  Oh yeah!  It's a bit thicker than a typical hollandaise sauce, so it stays on the sandwich better and wasn't too drippy at all.

  • Hugs Banana. You are dealing with a lot, and from a distance. That always makes it harder.

Being away from America is weird right now. Part of me is relieved to have some distance, the other part feels guilty for feeling that way. It's like everyone here is still focused on Covid and it's effects, and I am almost have to be reminded that it's still happening. My focus is elsewhere now.

On the covid front, we are getting mixed signals. They are opening restaurants, gyms, and things but they have locked down our city. There isn't even travel allowed within the "state", so idk how to feel.

  • (((Hugs))) @banana468.  You get my vote to visit her.  Even if it’s just you, I think it can be done at this point with masks/6 feet away?

@short+sassy that sounds good.  You didn’t steer me wrong with your WW review of the popeye’s chicken sandwich so I’ll take your word on this one too. I woke up early today and someone posted a homemade mcmuffin on their fb page - I was so tempted to grab that and a coffee from McDonalds before work.  Laziness stopped me.

remember when I said i got the cleaning bug yesterday? My butt hurts today from the squatting/floor cleaning. My bathroom is small, like reach wall to wall with your arms stretched out small.  Smh.

  • Busy day at work today.  I had most of Monday, then all of Tuesday and Wednesday off for a "holiday".  I washed and waxed all the vehicles, did gardening, took care of some housework, and took the dog for some long walks.  There is still always more to do though.

Sorry to hear that you were sick, @short+sassy, but hopefully you continue to feel better!  And sending hugs your way @banana468.  That's a lot to be dealing with right now!

*hugs* @banana468 that's a lot...I'd break the quaratine and go over but I'm sorry you and your family are going through this
  • I've decided I'm either going this weekend or next.   My brother has Sunday's off so we can be socially distant on the deck.
