Wedding Woes

Fri-yay

Thank goodness.

I think my entire office is in a passive aggressive rebellion about this new software.  They transferred our database early, so all of our work this week has to be imported, manually by us, into the new software next week.  So...nobody (and I really mean no one in the office) is doing any work except essentials.  I have zero sympathy about this.  Also, after my training yesterday, I figured out we've lost a lot of my favorite functionality on this program and I'm just pissed now.

Anyway, we have pottery class date night that I'm super excited about.  I just put in an order at Clinique to get the hydrating gel that I've been coveting since I had a sample, trying a new eye moisturizer, grabbing the lash primer that I used to love and new mascara since my lashes are banging after that lift/dye, and trying their liquid eyeliner.

Other than that, SSDD.  I need to get my cooking mojo back, so I can get back on track with weight loss.  I just feel blah still.

Re: Fri-yay

  • That sucks about losing functionality with this program update!  Why would they switch it if that was going to happen?

    Work is getting busy again for me.  And this week has been kicking my butt - I've been trying to get my yard ready for landscapers to work on it and the weeds have proven resistant to all measures.  On top of that, that guy that my husband had a falling out with is now giving me a hard time because we are still in the same circles.  I'd like to burn bridges at this point, but it will hurt me more than hurt him, so I'm trying to play the long game to cut losses.  It is taking a lot of mental energy that I just do not have right now.  I HATE drama.  Unless it is Prudie drama, in which case I love drama.

  • So glad it's Friday!

    I have a client griping that we have long lead times and a month ago they stated that they need to review production to manage down inventory levels.   Enter condescending voice: Sweetheart - you can't have it both ways.   You either need to let me produce product and bring your inventory up or you keep it and manage it and deal with the lead times.   Covid drew on essential products and this is where we are.   I don't like it but do you REALLY think much has changed since we discussed this 9 days ago?   Either let me do my job or micromanage me and tell everyone that you're being penny wise and pound foolish.     Inventory is a cure-all and right now you need it.

    FWIW, if you don't know manufacturing, it's often nearly the identical amount of time to produce something like 6,000 of a product as it is to produce 12,000 of a product.   And if you hem and haw about what amounts to a few hundred dollars of inventory (WHILE YOU'RE A FORTUNE 100 COMPANY) you're going to see this as an issue when it's going to cost you more than it's worth to ship it overnight.

    I hate giving people bad news but I also really loathe it when people don't get it either.   You're going to have to balance what's going on now.
  • This friggen week ....
    I'm 90% sure BabyKitten is getting her 2yr old molars. Yesterday she was up at 5:30 and this morning she TRIED to wake up earlier but gave her some motrin and settled her. Luckily she was still tired so she went back down.

    Apparently I shut off my alarm so we were late. I'm still WFH so made that easier but still.

    BabyKitten is going to my mum's tonight - we are staying for dinner - and then M and I are having a nice relaxing evening together. I may take a bath.
    Tomorrow we have some stuff to do before we pick up BabyKitten - yard, filing cabinet, etc - and I need to pick up a book because guess what!

    We are probably potty training soon!

    Send help.

    Idk if I mentioned, but we have an in person allergist appt at the end of the month for BabyKitten so luckily answers a.s.a.p!
  • So glad it's Friday, so looking forward to the weekend.

    Today we're having this day of reflection development whatever. I still have no idea what that's supposed to be, so I'm finishing a training course that I should have done months ago. It will be good to finish the whole course, as it's like a 50 hour course and I can use it on my internal resume, but the reality is that I've taught myself most of this stuff by now, so some of it is super boring. I already cleaned my desk and organized my email box while watching. I'm hoping to at least finish up by about 3 and have some alone down time while H is still working.

    Tomorrow I'm excited to finish assembling the new dining room table and moving some furniture around. I should be able to finally get the last box out of my office. Sunday we rented a pontoon for the day, so we'll be out on the lake all day. I guess tomorrow I also need to get everything ready for the boat trip.
  • I should have just taken today off.  I don't have the mental ability to work right now.  I'm just done!  I have a zoom meeting about a review for one of my cases, that the attorney wants me to sit through.  We may not even participate in the review, as there are 3 other law firms representing our client and we are in third position for work from this case.

    My parents' house had almost $9k in tree work/damage from the storm that took out my brother's house.  Their house, mostly unscathed, but the trees were everywhere.  We are hopeful they will get some assistance to fix up a few things that would have made it harder to sell.  But the tree guys finally came yesterday and took away most of the trees (they need to bring a larger stump grinder in still!), so I have to go over later today to get some pictures of any damage that many not have been seen by all the trees before.

    Not sure what is up for the weekend.  But DD goes back to daycare on Monday.  It will be nice that we will be able to work from home without having to take care of DD.  It will be weird not having her around, but it had to happen sooner or later.  There will only be 10 kids in her class for now, so that is good.  I know she will be happy to see her friends again!
  • 2020 needs to take a chill pill. There was ANOTHER fire in our neighborhood last night. It was one of the nicest business buildings in the area so really sad it’s gone now. I don’t think our area will recover it and our area already struggles a lot. And it was full of small businesses that I’m sure won’t recover from a double hit of pandemic plus fire. My heart is so sad for those small business owners.

    Work today. I think I sprained my ankle so I’m reluctantly staying off it as much as possible for the next few days. I’ll probably have to modify some of my higher impact workouts for next week too. Blah. But I get my car serviced and my hair done this weekend. Finally. It’s going to be an expensive weekend. But thank goodness for getting into the salon.

    My suspicion with no proof, is that the old program is not longer supported by the company.  We're still with the same company, just upgrading the program.  I think the biggest issue is that the new program is "tablet ready."  Well, we don't work on tablets and this is just really inconvenient for desktops.  Tons of keyboard shortcuts are just gone, and since we don't work on tablets and don't have touchscreen, very mouse heavy which I don't like.

    Side note: in our constant look of houses, found this:

    https://www.realtor.ca/real-estate/21952021/40-seabrooke-drive-kanata-glencairn
    {note: in "more photos" there is more detail about some stuff}

    Things M would change - based on theoretical ownership

    Kitchen -
    Cook top - he prefers flat top {M: That might be first thing we'd do}
    Breakfast nook - isn't a fan {me: I like it}

    Basement - finish, maybe open up

    Master bedroom
    - take out wall
    - pax wardrobe with frosted doors
    - he wants a darker grey walls but I argued our bed frame is basically black and our side tables are light grey, but he said "if we get right one it'll look good" {he has NEVER made points like that .... so I would genuinely take it to heart}

    Main bath - dislikes the green. {that's fine, I'd do a tone similar to tub but much lighter}
    Half bath - bigger mirror

    He wants to see basement and other bedrooms in person.
  • Feeling under the weather today and kind of enjoying the excuse to eat plain pasta with butter for lunch like a toddler.
  • @VarunaTT, ah yes!  Isn't "planned, unnecessary obsolescence" for software and electronic products grand?

    @levioosa, I'm so sorry to hear that happened in your neighborhood!  It is especially heartbreaking for those businesses to make it through the pandemic, only to have their offices/buildings burn down.

    GD it!  I have had the most stressful time the last couple days trying to get my insurance squared away.  Though it finally, finally is all done as of about 30 minutes ago.  The duplex we are still doing renos on needs a special type of insurance that's called "Builder's Risk".  Translation: it's more expensive and there is a LOT more "behind the scenes" underwriting and data gathering as compared to a typical residential home policy.

    I told my current carrier I needed it for 3 more months.  After over a week, they finally got me the quote.  And the bad news that they will only offer me 1 more month of this insurance.

    It's an even longer story than that, that is very boring, lol.  But for a number of good reasons, even though it was a more expensive policy, I'm switching this duplex over to my other insurance carrier that had already given me a quote.  Already done.

    Though it is kind of funny now because, for the duplex that's finished, that one I kept with the current carrier because they were a lot cheaper and there wasn't any fuss about it.  So now those duplexes are insured and under two totally different agents/insurance companies.

    Definitely looking forward to my weekend now!  It should (hopefully) be pretty mellow and relaxing.

    Gotta love Harrah's and their almost immediate jumping into action, lol.  Here's the timeline:

    Tues. (6/9):  City announces we are going into Phase 2 and casinos can open at 25% capacity on Sat. 6/13.
    Wed. (6/10):  Harrahs e-mails me they will re-open on Sat. 6/13 at 10AM.
    Thurs. (6/11):  Harrah's e-mails me again with slot play and free hotel stay offers, lmao.

    After a lot of back and forth and consideration, I'm excited to share that the kids and I will be going to my parents' house after classes this afternoon.  They have a pool and it's open and 80 degrees here so it feels like the right day.  I trust that they have been being safe, and three months has been as long as they and the kids can go with just Facetime.  My sister with kids has been seeing them once a week since May and it seems to be going well (outdoors only, masks when less than 6') and they call it being part of each other's "quarantine bubble".  It's taken a few weeks to convince H but he finally agreed.  We'll go with once a week to start, but with the town pool closed and beaches getting more crowded I'd like to have a pool we can jump in.  Their area and ours is opening up bit by bit but we're still all in the same boat (grocery shopping with a mask every week or two and nowhere else).  So a very happy Friday over here :)
    So glad you’ll get to see them all!!
