Wedding Woes

Thursday aka Friday

I'm so glad it's a short week.  I'm really burning time in this new software, just trying to get through my normal stuff.  Today is going to be another grinding day.

No big plans, just watching Hamilton (probably more than one time) and getting the last few bits of the apartment organized so that I can add working out to my schedule next week.  We're not going anywhere or doing anything special.  I'm struggling with balancing healthy and unhealthy levels of paranoia, fear, and nihilism about everything at this point.

Re: Thursday aka Friday

  • It's not a short week for me! *SOB*

It's ok, it will mostly likely be a short day. Just super annoying that they won't give us the day, AND most of our vendors are closed.

  • @VarunaTT, sending out my best wishes!  I know your work's attitude and the new software have been causing you extra stress.  I hope you stay on the healthy level side of things as much as possible.  Enjoy streaming Hamilton.  We can all use a long weekend to refresh and recharge!

I'm at work today, but am off at noon.  I have a surprising amount to do and need to get on the ball so I can leave on time.  But I keep procrastinating, lol.

If no one else does, I can post Prudie in a couple hours.

I am officially taking Monday off, so I'm very excited to have an extra full day tacked onto my holiday weekend.

This summarized everything I’m feeling way too accurately. I’m trying to be optimistic but really everything feels terrifying.

Work is also a grind today ahead of the long weekend. I think I have an hour with no meetings that I blocked off in order to prepare for other meetings.

We start virtual prenatal classes tonight and we’re skipping the wake for SILs dad. It sucks but it’s the right call. Probably not going to the funeral either tomorrow. I’m sad for her and for her family.

No real plans for the weekend. Cleaning, getting more baby stuff set up, napping. That’s really all I do now.

Please do Prudie! I’m off to a full day of meetings but need some Prudie to read through during some of those.
  • Trying to decide if I’m going to the beach Saturday- part of me is desperate to just swim in the waves and part of me hates sand and sun and the hassle. But then every year I get to the end of summer and really wish I had gone more often. Sigh.
  • I am so stressed about today. We don’t have enough staff, or testing kits. CA is skyrocketing with cases and everything is shutting down again. We’re going to drown all day and I’m so bitter and angry about it.

Ugh. I’m going shopping for margarita supplies after work. And I’ve decided to make carne asada as one of our meals on the 4th. So I have that to look forward to at least. I just have to get through this extremely shitty day.

Grapefruit, limes, cointreau, tequila, salt.   I'm finding I love the grapefruit flavor when I make a grapefruit margarita vs. a lime based one.

One grapefruit and 1-2 limes is enough for 2.

:O!  I love grapefruit anyway.  I never thought to turn it into a margarita.  Thanks for the tip!

@levioosa.  I can't imagine your stress levels and I'm so sorry.  I just want to drop kick people not wearing masks and traveling.  We have 2 people here still going to Florida in July!!!  I'm seriously considering dusting off my resume, TBH.
  • Today is my Friday.  DD's daycare is closed tomorrow, so I made appointments for her and I to get haircuts.  There is a children's hair salon near here and they also take adults.  They did a nice job on DD's hair last time, so I hope they do the same for me!

No big plans for the weekend.  We usually go to H's friend's house for July 4th, but they are very last minute people.  Not sure if it will happen this year and I'm ok with that, as I don't trust them to properly social distance and wear masks when needed.  Sunday we will go to H's family for his birthday dinner.  It will be a BBQ and hopefully all outside, but that will depend on the weather.

Here's the link!  Agave helps but simple syrup sweetens up if you want - or use a sugar substitute.

Another tip: adding a little muddled jalapeño to a regular lime margarita gives it an extra little kick too.

Hugs, good vibes and grapefruit margaritas to everyone feeling the stress.  @short+sassy yay for Monday off!  @STARMOON44 I'm a fall-winter-spring beach person...I can't stand being wet and then covered in sand and then hot in the sand...but I did go to the beach last week and bobbing in the waves felt really good.  So my vote is to go.

Just getting in from the pool.  It's supposed to get close to 90 later so toying with grilling some chicken and pizzas now while i'm still wet/relatively cool and serving them at dinner time cool or at room temp.

100% me.  In fall:  “where did the summer go?” Oh.  I stayed inside for it.  My mom said the the other day I didn’t like water. I told her I loved the water! Hated the sun.

Grapefruit marg?  Where do I stand in line?

That's one of the bummers of living so far down south.  I very purposely stay inside as much as I can in the summer, lol.  It's hustling from my a/c'ed car to an a/c'ed building and back again.

I always laugh about that with my in laws. They live in South Florida. If you go down there any time from April - September, no one is ever outside. They can't handle the heat. It cracks me up, because their summer really isn't any worse than ours, it just lasts forever.

After Hurricane Katrina, my H and I evacuated to Miami for work reasons and lived there for 3 months.  We went back to New Orleans in mid-Nov.  When we left Miami, it was still in the low 80's.  NOLA was in the low 50's, a good 30 degrees cooler!  I know Miami is even more southern, but I was still shocked at the difference.
