Wedding Woes

Rainy Wednesday

I got caught in a downpour on my walk this morning while I was still about 3/4 of a mile from home. I’m hoping that this means a break in the excessive heat!

Counting down to vacation/leave. Only 2.5 days left!!

Rainy here too. I woke up around 4:30 am and never got back to sleep. Of course I didn't do anything useful with my extra time.

Kind of an easy day at work today which is good bc tomorrow is meeting after meeting after meeting. Just wish it was nicer for some outside time or walks today in between emails.
  • High of 90 today which is cool for us and I’ll take it. Yesterday was an absolute shit show topped off with some lovely sabotage from my coworker. I just want to be able to relax. Here’s to hoping I can finish my work today and be prepared for the rest of the week.

  • Cloudy here, but no rain in the forecast.  Wednesday is my scheduled lawn day so I hope it stays that way. I have dinner tonight with a few friends and that’s about it, actually.  This week is taking forever!

  • Oh no @levioosa.   Is this the same coworker that has been an issue in the past?  I can't remember if she's been dealt with.

It's looking lovely now but I hear the storms are ready to move in.

DH and I are trying to finalize vacation plans since Disney isn't happening and now we're looking for house rentals on short notice.   FUN!

    @charlotte989875, Almost there!

@kvruns, glad today will be a more relaxing work day.  Mine should be also.  I'm mildly busy, so as not to be bored to death, lol.  But not so busy as to feel stressed about anything.  In fact, I have some personal stuff to catch up on and I'm hoping to have a chance to knock that out also.

@levioosa, Coworker sabotage, smh.  I've twice had a coworker like that at previous jobs.  I found it deeply disturbing and disconcerting, more than I thought it would be.

One of them at least didn't lie about anything, but he had something against me (don't know what) and actively tried to get me fired for reasons I never understood.  The whole thing was always weird and puzzling.  The other coworker, which was at a different company from that one, would lie about me to our supervisor.  She was a temp-to-perm through an agency, which was how I had started.  But when she was brought on, I was already an employee.  So I always assumed she was trying to get me fired in order to move into a "perm" position faster.  She would do things like tell me she was swamped and asked if she could hand off XYZ work to me.  Then call our supervisor 20 minutes later that she was concerned because she needed to turn XYZ into Project Lead.  Had asked me to take care of it hours ago, but I hadn't finished it yet.

I went home sick after lunch yesterday.  But am back to feeling 100% today.  Totally refreshed even!  Other than that, not much else going on but the never ending saga of renovation and vacancies, lol.

I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch, but my H just called and said we have a potential applicant who said she is going to be right back with the holding deposit and her application (crossing fingers!).  I've chatted to her on PM and on the phone and I've gotten good vibes, so far.  Hopefully she follows through and everything checks out on her application.  It would be amazing to get this one wrapped up before we even seriously started advertising it.

Our governor just announced we're staying at the current Phase II for at least another couple weeks.  And, in addition, all public schooling will be distance learning for at least the entire month of August.  That's a major change from what was announced just a couple weeks ago.

Oooohhh, but there are a LOT of private schools in NOLA, most of them Catholic.  The Archdiocese came out a few hours later to state that all of their schools will be in-class or hybrid from their normal start dates (which are in August).  But distance learning will be made available for parents who prefer that.

I REALLY feel for all the parents out there, locally and across the country.  Especially the ones...like many of my coworkers...who can't WFH*, but have children too young to be left alone at home.

*Edited to clarify and add snark...I'm sorry, have the capability to WFH.  But our company no longer allows it.

  • We had a huge but quick sandstorm with thunder/lightening and sprinkles, so that was exciting lol.

DH and I got into a tiff yesterday because I plan too much and he "never gets a weekend" 🙄. Well, they just allowed pools to reopen and there are some amazing staycation deals going on so I am tempted to take the baby and check myself in for a couple days next week. Let him have his weekend and I will have my pool and room service. I can't tell if I am being petty or having a genius idea, lol.

I can't believe July is almost over. I thought we would try to get away in August but now I feel like it will be over before we get anything together. Our last trip was last October. This is the longest, fast year.

I vote genius idea as long as you dont mind the 24/7 baby care those days @missJeanLouise

    Leave the baby with him!
  • @STARMOON44 that's the long game plan 😉😉

I can't believe less than two months ago I was eagerly planning (at least mentally) a long, beach weekend on the Gulf Coast of FL in Sept.  "It'll be fine. The pandemic should be better by then.  We'll make sure to only be in our room or down on the beach."

Just saw a headline a couple days ago that beach communities in FL have had over 24% of their population test positive!  I already wasn't going to set foot in that state, but that stat REALLY underlined my decision.  And highlighted it in yellow.  And circled it.

Bye, bye Florida (sigh).  Maybe next summer/early Fall we can meet again.

  • Saw some lightning out my window about 30 minutes ago. Now it's partly sunny, partly cloudy outside. Wishing for the weather, the heat and the coronavirus to clear up and go away.
  • Potty training is going about as well as to be expected.

Yesterday - 1 sprinkle, but 1 potty pee.
    Today - 3 sprinkles and 1 potty pee, but one floor poop. {our bad, we missed her squatting}

Matt is trying to catch pee signs as the sprinkles seem to be her trying and somewhat failing to hold her pee.
  • @missJeanLouise I vote genius as long as you don’t mind the single parent child care life.

@banana468 same coworker. Unfortunately this instance comes down to a “he said, she said” so I don’t have any real proof.

Ugh @levioosa sorry about the coworker, last thing you need with all the CA craziness going on.
@missJeanLouise my H "needs a weekend" sometimes too.  Not that he's ever taken one, but he gets annoyed esp in October and December when we have family fun holiday-related plans every weekend.  For the last couple years as the kids have gotten older/more manageable he just stays home when he doesn't want to come to something.  Which I much prefer to him coming and complaining for the day leading up, the entire time, and the day after.  The kids prefer it too :#

Temp is down a touch here but crazy humid.  My twins had their 5-year well visits earlier.  Otherwise SSDD.
  • I wish it would rain here today. It actually rained yesterday, and it was glorious. Storm came through at about 4 while it was 9,000 degrees out. The temp dropped all the way to 80. I wound up sitting out on our porch for a while just to enjoy it.

My coworker is getting tested tomorrow. She went down to south Florida over the weekend, and now at least one of the people she traveled with is sick. This makes me even more glad that my company is leaving us home. If we were in the office, I would have been with her all day today. We were in 3 different meetings together, plus we work on everything together.

In fun news, I'm taking a half day tomorrow and vacation day Friday, so it's almost the weekend for me. I'm in dire need of a break.
  • We got massive storms last night.  They woke me up a few times.

We *finally* got a statewide mask mandate.  Anyone over 7 must wear one.

It's my day off.  DefConn and I went shopping and then I took a nap on the couch.  I think my period is due any second because I'm exhausted and extra snacky.

This phrase caught my funny bone.  I like it!
