Halloween Friday!

edited October 2020 in Wedding Woes
I hope everyone’s kids are excited for whatever version of Halloween you’re doing!

We got the dog a head wrap from the vet so he’s sad but no longer bleeding, my Mom is moving this weekend, but I’m rocking a sleeping baby and enjoying some coffee.

Also it’s forecasted to snow today! All Buffalo Halloween costumes must accommodate a snowsuit.

ETA: The sad puppy in his headdress.

Re: Halloween Friday!

  • It is GROSS.  It's snowing now and the kids think it's awesome while I'm just glad I switched to hot coffee from my cold brew.   WFH means wearing UGGS today.

  • H and I keep arguing and getting on each others nerves.  I hate it.  I'm also getting really sick of walking around our neighborhood and might take the babe somewhere else to go for a chilly walk today.  At least it's sunny.  We ordered him outdoor winter stuff and 2 of the 3 things are way too big so i need to exchange those at some point this weekend too.

Work is crazy through next week and i have 2 full weeks off before the end of the year, so i'm super excited about that.
  • As Canadians, we already set up our Halloween costumes for minimum it being cold lmao

I've got my halloween playlist on today :) We aren't doing anything halloween this weekend really. I may make hotdog mummies {ie; hotdogs wrapped in dough like mummies} and depending on weather, maybe we'll see what our street has during the day.
It's far, but there is a house I wish we could show BK - she's newly obsessed with Mickey and Minnie, and they have halloween Mickey decor. Maybe I'll convince M to come with us to check it out.

M got lego a few weeks ago and it's large, so he's been working in sections. Not long ago he didn't look at the section before starting it and it ended up taking 90% of the day. So I told him he needs to pre-look at sections so we can figure out what's a good day.
I told him that if he's doing it - next section to take awhile also - he needs to make sure he dedicates some time specifically to doing something with BK.
We get crates from kiwicrate.com and some are a tad older {age range on these boxes is 2-4} but M is going to try and adjust to what she can do.
I also got her a dollarama colourwonder idea, so we're going to see how into it she is before I buy her any more for xmas.

No but I’m also interested in anyone’s experience!

My mom did one.  I think my dad canceled it.  I remember using the stuff they got around their house when I was there helping out with day to day stuff this past spring.  I liked their branded stuff, and then of course Method and whatnot are also great products.

We had trunk or treat last night with scouts.  It was 'drive through'.  It sucked.  The kids were bored.  It was cold AF.  It just all felt half-baked.  My toes and fingers were frozen, with boots and gloves on.

Our dryer broke this week.  $240 later, it's fixed.  Better than a new dryer, but boo to money I didn't really want to spend.

DefConn's BFF can go ToT now. I think we're going to stick around here and our friends are coming over with their kids to go around the neighborhoods close to us.  Same friends will probably come watch football on Sunday.

DefConn's going as a dead cowboy.  I took some pics last night, but I hope we can do better on his make up tomorrow.
  • I am a little stressed out. Two employees called off last minute and my manager is out along with three other employees. There was traffic on the way to work so I was 45 min later than I wanted to be. I have so much to do today and I’m already behind. This doesn’t help. I’m super glad tomorrow is the start of my three day weekend. FSIL and I are going on a halloween neighborhood walk tonight then tomorrow we hike and bake. At some point we need to put candy into little baggies and create the contactless Halloween candy chute so if any ToT’s come our way we can do that. I’m excited about the cake I’m making. I hope it turns out. Food decor is not my strength. I think I’m going to add a little kahlua to my buttercream frosting for an extra kick.

Same here, would love to hear if anyone has thoughts about it.
  • I just ordered my intro box from Grove.  It was a good deal, we'll see how it goes and I'll keep you posted.

No but their stuff seems really good. I just don't want a monthly thing - I don't go through cleaning stuff that fast.
  • I'm so glad it's Friday! Still no internet, but mobile hotspot seems to be ok. No big halloween plans here. It got cold overnight, or cold for here. I had to bust out a hoodie this morning and we'll probably do a fire tonight. Otherwise this weekend will be house projects and maybe go to my sister's. That's all we ever do.

@charlotte989875, he looks so sad about it!

@Casadena, are you just on each other's nerves from being stuck together all the time? Can you take a solo break for some me-time?
  • He is sad @MyNameIsNot, and he thinks he’s in trouble! Poor pup.
  • @MyNameIsNot, we just put the heater on today for the first time since February!

I got both electricity and Internet back yesterday.  Score!!!  My workplace is still without power, though.  Dutiful employee that I am, I got online this morning to WFH.  But it wasn't working.  Hmmm, so weird.  What is going on.  OH. YEAH.  The way my WFH works is, it is a relay through my work computer.  Sooooo, if my work computer is off, I can't WFH, lmao.  Never mind.

Apparently I ended up with a very unexpected 4 day weekend.  I just hope they pay us for yesterday and today.  I'm pretty sure they will, but there is no telling.

My H and I aren't doing anything for Halloween.  No parties because it's COVID and kids never come to our door anyway.  But I hope the rest of you all have a fun time.

  • @Casadena sounds pretty common for those home and wfh

@charlotte989875 "when will my husband come home from war?" - said in dramatic voice lol

That's a lot of it, yeah. One of us is also a huge neat freak and other is fairy messy.  It's causing some tension more than normal because we are all home together all the time.

For the first time in a long time, I'm struggling with my asthma.  I stayed home from work yesterday and did multiple vapor treatments and then used my inhaler, to make sure the medicine got into me.  Today is better; still coughing but a lot less.  I think it's that mold is so high and isn't going away like it usually does by now.  I do not want to get bronchitis ever and definitely not right now.

    Otherwise SSDD.
Did you see they have a new Craft coming out?
I'm torn on watching it ....
  • @charlotte989875 - such a sad pup, but at least there's not blood everywhere!

    Hahahaha so dramatic!
  • Healing vibes @Casadena and @VarunaTT

We have freezing rain right now but it’s in the 30s and threatening snow.  My sister just texted- she was getting mixed vibes from her neighborhood re trick or treating tomorrow, so she, BIL and the kids are going to come to us.  My area goes pretty big and it’s on this year.  It’s outdoors and my area has been good with masking since the beginning, so I feel good about ToT.  I’m going to pull a bunch of my pizza crust from the freezer when I get home, and make a vodka sauce tomorrow morning (once cooked it’s more orange than a marinara).  I think we’ll do make your own pizzas after ToT.  I have some pumpkin and ghost cookie cutters..should be fun.  It’ll be our first indoor, mask-less gathering since March, so we’ll see how it goes.

That's the one we're watching!  The reviews I've seen on my nerd sites are surprisingly good and most of the reviewers were surprised it was good.  Most said that it basically just updates the original and fixes some of it's problems, while staying true to the basic storyline.  We're pretty excited for it now.
