Wedding Woes

Thursday?

I’m pretty sure it’s Thursday. I had yesterday off and tomorrow off as well so it’s either Thursday, Monday, or Friday.

H went to camp for the day, my Mom is here with the baby, and H’s mom comes later. I’m on a 2+ hour long call where I have no speaking role but I get to listen? It is interesting but after being up 4 times last night staying awake is going to be tough.

  • @charlotte989875 - the secret to listening to a 2+ hour call?  Web surfing and Knotting!

Glad your mom and MIL are available to help out.  Any news on the job front for your DH?

I'm teaching a new class this morning so hoping it goes well.  Need to figure something out for dinner and set up our printer.  Bought a new wifi one in May and it worked great for 2 months.  Now the print looks like double vision.  After numerous calls to Canon support and trying various things, they sent me a new one under warranty.  Hoping this one works better.  I hard wire to our desktop but do WiFi printing from my laptop, DH's iPad and our phones. Messing around with printers and computers is the last thing I want to do at night after being on them for work all day but this needs to be done.

    Happy Friday Eve!

  • Well, I've been gone for 3 days because I've been at home.  K and I have broken up.  I'm not holding out any hope for reconciliation.  I had a therapist appointment yesterday and he solidified in my mind that the relationship is over.  This hurts desperately.  I forced myself into work today and trying to concentrate.

Nothing too much else going on in my life really.  *cynical laugh*  I'm finally hungry, so maybe I can eat some lunch and get food in me.
  • Oh @VarunaTT, I’m sorry! That’s so so hard. All the support here. Hoping you can distract yourself with work and movies. And definitely here if you want to talk!
  • Oh no @VarunaTT.   We're here for you even if it's virtually.

  • Oh Varuna, I'm so sorry.
  • Varuna, I am so sorry. I hope food helps.
  • Varuna - I'm so sorry.  Please feel free to talk things out here.  Hugs and all the comfort food you want!
  • Oh @VarunaTT I’m so sorry to hear this news. Will be thinking of you.
  • Oh Varuna, I’m so so sorry. Sending virtual hugs and comfort.

  • Varuna, I'm so sorry to hear.

  • Varuna, I am so sorry this happened.
  • @charlotte989875 vibes for that 2hr call. They suck a.f! M has done those but he's slowly getting into more talking roles {which he is mixed on cuz he can't just dick around on his phone}

@VarunaTT Oh shit :( virtual hugs, feel free to vent/express/etc {idk the fucking word here} everything ... we're here.
    Comfort food. Whatever you want

    Just had an hour staff meeting and we're going back full time in our office {we're 4 - 3 have their own office and I am front desk but we all wear masks outside of our spaces}
Sucks because I was enjoying my time solo when I wfh one day a week :(

We've had to figure out stuff with BK having bits of muffin daily. I don't think she likes it, so she seems to only eat it after having a couple bites of something else. I've got a note to follow up with allergist we we have to bake next batch about adjusting flavour.
My kid who doesn't like sweet things .... *eye roll* I may also see what allergist suggests - I think as long as the amount of tahini is there, he may have a new recipe.

So in Canada we have graduated licensing
G1 - can drive with fully licensed driver in car {learners permit} - has expiry
G2 - can drive solo with restrictions {mostly age related but can vary} - has expiry
Full G - no restrictions. Full license - no expiry

    Not including trucking, motorcycles, etc

Anyways I have my G1 and apparently that means you cannot renew your license online.
On top of that, their hours are reduced for covid and no bus routes.
    *HEAVY EYE ROLL*
  • @VarunaTT - I'm so sorry! My heart breaks for you.

  • so sorry to hear that @VarunaTT
  • I’m sorry to hear @VarunaTT, sending healing vibes

Rumors are running rampant here that all schools in our county are going remote from the week after Thanksgiving through MLK day in January as a precaution.  Numbers are slowly climbing and our governor cracked down yesterday (totally necessary, safety first) but it’s disappointing at the same time.  Holding out hope it’ll be district by district, the one I work in has only has two cases and my kids’ hasn’t had any. But it sounds like it’ll be the whole county.

    They're rampant here too.

The thing is, the spread isn't happening in the schools.   So if this happens I'm concerned that it's going to contribute to the spread especially if the students are young and alternative childcare can't be arranged.  If this happens to us it's no change but I can see other parents not so lucky.    The cases are going up because people are doing things inside.  There's a rumor that a lot of HS students from towns in the northern end of CT came to the town in a rented Air BnB one town over and that was a HUGE spreading event.

  • Back at work again. Yesterday was rough. I had to send one of my employees to the hospital and she was understandably upset and scared. I feel so bad and I’m so angry at our healthcare system because I’m pretty sure the care she’s getting is super affected by implicit bias/racism in health care. So I was raging about that all day yesterday. I got home feeling pretty drained but just getting home and zoning out for a minute perked me back up. Of course our asshole neighbor was working on his house again until after midnight. The siding is all done and the windows are in so it’s not about keeping the house warm anymore. If he does it again today we’re saying something.

  • @VarunaTT, I am surprised and sad to read your news about the breakup ((hugs)).  Hang in there and I hope you're doing okay.

I've been out sick yesterday and today.  I feel pretty crappy but, it is what it is.  I did take a COVID test yesterday, but it will be 3-5 days before I get the results.  I'm not worried at all.  It feels exactly like a cold.  It's also not unusual for me to catch a cold when a/c is blown near my face, keeping it too cold all day long.  Which is exactly what it is like working at my cube, now that our weather has cooled down.  But they are still blowing the a/c like usual, smh.  I can't wait until I move to my new cube spot.  It's on the other side of the building, where the temperatures are more moderate.

Unfortunately, it's been a really busy day anyway and I'm already emotionally exhausted.  My lender who said we could close before Thanksgiving has already dropped out (sigh).  So I've been scrambling around talking to others.  I've also been going back and forth at work on what I should do tomorrow and possibly Monday.  Not "arguments", but just a lot of email exchanges.  I finally got word from HR that they want me to stay home...preferably WFH...until I get my results back.

I know you haven't said anything because you don't want to cause waves, but most/all cities have ordinances that govern the hours construction can take place.  For example, here in NOLA it is 7am-7pm.

But it is pathetic he can't just be a decent human being and stop with all the noise.at a reasonable hour.  No one should have to tell him that (eyeroll).

  • I know it's getting late in the day but, since I'm not seeing Prudie, I'm going to post some letters.  I hope @mrsconn23 is okay.

not gonna lie .... I saw the letter and I was like "wait ... it's thursday?"
  • @short+sassy I think our ordinance is 8? I honestly don’t really mind if it’s even until 9:30/10. But after that is ridiculous. And on a week night! I’m a pretty understanding neighbor. We live in a neighborhood that is prone to huge parties/family gatherings. Sometimes they go on with super loud music until 3 am. As long as it’s occasionally instead of weekly and if it’s on a weekend, I’m fine and don’t get worked up about it. But every night, on a weeknight, until after midnight? No thank you. Now you’re just being an ass.

  • Levioosa - I would call the non-emergency police number and report it anonymously.  It might be easier than saying something yourself, if he is one to hold a grudge.

S+S - Hope your test is negative!
  • H and I just got back from having a Covid test. The outdoor baby shower we attended on Saturday had one person who just tested positive. He doesn't have any symptoms and doesn't feel bad at all. Luckily, everyone wore masks except when we were eating/drinking and we were socially distant. FX'd that H and I are negative. We won't get the results until Saturday but we're lucky to get in today. My friend just texted this morning about the positive result.

@VarunaTT, I'm so sorry about you and K. Hope you can move forward soon.
  • The school has two teachers in the same room for some odd reason, and the one hubby was sharing a room with just let him know last night that he is displaying symptoms.  They were both distancing and wearing masks, but we'll see what that means.

  • @kerbohl @ILoveBeachMusic fingers crossed for you guys!
