Wedding Woes

Thirsty Thursday

.....I wish.  I miss wine.

At the office today for a few meetings then home for lunch and the afternoon.  Ordered a few sets of sheets, quilts, and pillows for the new mattress yesterday - I'm honestly not sure what fabric/weave we will like so we decided to order a few to check and return what we don't like.

Nothing else going on really.  What's up with everyone else?

Re: Thirsty Thursday

  • If you're thirsty for Starbucks, if you order a grande or larger in the app today they will add a free drink coupon to your account on 3/10 (or maybe 3/12?). So a nice BOGO deal
  • Ugh, so my person who just didn’t show up yesterday texted me and asked to have today off too saying they were burned out and needed a break from work. So not feeling really confident in my managerial skills today if 1 person is quitting and the other is burned out. My third person seems to do being okay?

So glad it’s almost the weekend.
  • Slowly sorting through BK's spring/summer gear.
I need to pick up rainboots for her, and I was looking based on her foot drawing/measurement, that she might be a mix size so we're just going to have BK come in when I do groceries.

I'm just genuinely hoping BK doesn't seen the frozen snow boots that are right beside the rain boots - otherwise we will never be able to leave the area without a melt down. At least it'll be the end of the shop, so M could easily just take her to the car.

lol when you said frozen snow boots I thought you meant like frozen over boots. I was like “why would someone want to step in super cold boots like that? And cry when they can’t?” Then I re-read it was like “ooooh disney’s frozen!”  I get it now.  I’d want those too!

@charlotte989875, that bites.  Maybe its personal issues with this person, not work related but using work as the excuse?

One more work day... one more day.  My 23 or 24 year old 2nd cousin posted an engagement ring on FB from her baby daddy/boyfriend.  I’d be happy for her but she has aired out her dirty laundry SO many times.  She catches him cheating every other month and ends it and calls him out on facebook.  Like, girl, you think he’s done cheating?  Thankfully  she’s one of my very few young FBer’s and really the only drama I see. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Oh your cousin.  If it's a pattern of behavior they're never done!

Today I'm tracking the status of my orders of the first two Bridgerton books.  That series has me HOOKED.

I think that’s a possibility- she’s someone who gets overwhelmed pretty easily so if something else is going on it could easily be the case. We have had a few requests this week out of the norm but she wasn’t solely responsible for it so IDK.
  • @banana468 I hope you get them soon! I binged the books in like a few weeks, I was hooked! They’re all so good!!
  • I have had a crazy week.

I got stuck in my building's elevator Tuesday night. I ran out to go to CVS at 10pm and on the way back up, the elevator dropped and I got stuck halfway up to the 2nd floor. They had to call the fire department to get me out. And because the car was stuck, I had to climb a damn ladder to get out..haha! I was in there for about 45 minutes.

I've always had a fear of elevators - not so much that I can't use them. But I don't love them, ya know? AND I also often have dreams of getting stuck in them even though it's never happened to me before until this week. So yeah. I was freaking out.

I had a feeling they'll be a fun read.   I need to take a look at the used bookstores in town for the rest.
  • I got a full, 8-hour, good night's sleep last night.  It's amazing what a difference that makes.  I feel great today and more energized than I usually do.  TBH, I almost never do except on the weekends when I can sleep in.

Feeling sluggish all day does not help with mood or motivation!  I know I need to get in better sleep habits, but I don't know why that has historically been hard for me.  I guess going to bed at 9:30-10pm just feels so early and I'm not tired.  But then I'm dragging all day, the next day if I go to bed at my more usual 11-11:30pm.

Not much going on today.  We're finally meeting with my neighbor tonight who wants to sell me her house.  Crossing my fingers we can work out a good agreement that's a win-win for everyone.

I saw another fix n' flip opportunity so close to our house that would also be amazing.  I assume it is already gone, but, once I know what is happening with the neighbor's house, I'll go back and check.  Financially speaking, I can't fully take on two houses that both need major rehabs.  Though the repairs for the neighbor's house would be more gradual.  But I know someone who could help on the money/credit/bank contacts side and, if the numbers are right, I think he'd be interested in partnering up for the other house.  I'm kind of already kicking myself I didn't explore that sooner.

  • omg @climbingsingle !! That used to happen in my work building more often than it should. I can't imagine 45 min!

@MissKittyDanger can you just buy 2 sizes of the rain boots and return the one that doesn't fit. I'd pick that over taking her to the store but then again I avoid any situation that I think can leave to a public meltdown if I can help it
  • @Casadena, if it makes you feel any better, I was stressed last night, drank too much wine, and now it's hangover Thursday for me. So at least you don't have to deal with that?

@climbingsingle, That's so scary! When lived in a tall building, I always worried that I'd get stuck on the elevator and no one would know I was there. And I'd have to pee.

It's a quiet day for me. It's warm and sunny, so I'm hoping to wrap up some work and go outside this afternoon.
  • @kvruns I'm not a huge fan of the back and forth :\ Hence why I measured. Also I kinda want her to choose. I'm gonna have M scope the location and maybe we can go around the back end to get to the rain boots.
  • I had a great day off yesterday.  I got some shopping done and also found some decor stuff that may work when we're done with painting and floors.  I met up with my friend for lunch and more shopping.  It was so nice that we found outdoor seating.

We were at the fancy mall that has an Anthropologie and I found these adorable tiny prep bowls on clearance (I spent under $15 for 5 of them).  I've been something like them for awhile for cooking and also to use for ,like, small snack portions.  I joked to DH that I made my first purchase at the 'white girl' store. LMAO  They actually have a really cute dish collection that's got a southwestern feel, but I'm not paying Anthro prices for it.

Dad came to dinner last night.  He's going to come help DH lay floors when we're ready and also help him cut and install new trim.

I'm hoping my friend L and I can get our girl's trip for early May booked this weekend.  We're leaning toward SW Michigan on the coast of the lake.  We want to keep it within driving distance of no more than 5 hours, but somewhere that has stuff to do.

SSDD otherwise.  Work sent me a webcam, but it's not working and IT is having VPN issues...so right now it's just something else in the way on my desk.

    Prudie coming up.

Oh no!  I mean, you hear about that kind of stuff but never think it will happen to you.  I'm glad you're okay and I hope your nerves stay calm enough to still be able to use elevators.

I watched a documentary called something like, "When Elevators Attack".  It was real stories of elevators that had gone awry.  Including interviews with the people it had happened to.

You know how every elevator lists the "max" number of people/weight limit.  I've always wondered, "What happens if the weight limit is exceeded?"  THAT was one of the stories so I appreciated my curiosity being satisfied, lol.  It happened in Australia during spring break at a hotel.  The guy they interviewed said he and few friends were heading down to the pool.  The elevator car was about half full when, all of a sudden, a big group of people loaded in.  He said they were packed like sardines.  The elevator went down one floor and then suddenly free fell 1-2 floors before the emergency brakes kicked in.  They were stuck in that elevator car...again, packed like sardines (shudder)...for two hours before the fire department could safely start to get people out.

Another one was kind of a cute story because the victim took it in great stride.  A couple had their wedding reception at a restaurant on one of the top floors of a hotel.  As the reception was just getting started, the bride had gone back down to the lobby.  When she got back in the elevator to go back, it suddenly stopped mid-way between floors.  The fire fighters came and were able to get the doors open.  Technically, it was a large gap and big enough she could have fairly easily climbed out.  But they didn't want her to do that until the elevator itself was stabilized, for fear that it could suddenly start moving again.  Unfortunately, it took a good 90 minutes before they could safely get her free and she missed about half of her own reception!  But she at least had a really good spirit about it.  Once she was out, she was laughing and taking selfies with the firefighters.

  • @banana468, I hope you enjoy them! I remember really getting into them too.
@climbingsingle yikes!  I would freak out too! And then never enter an elevator if I can help it.  For a very long time anyway! Glad it all worked out.

I've had two different jobs at the same set of tall office buildings that are right next to the levee for Lake Ponchartrain (big waterway).  Every once in awhile, a water moccasin...sometimes called a cotton mouth...snake would be found in the elevators!  They primarily live in and swim in water, hence their name.  After I heard the first story of that, I took a few extra seconds to look at the floor of the whole elevator before getting in, lol.

They are very venomous.  One bite won't usually kill you, but a few potentially could.  I had an ex-b/f who was bit on the finger by one (before I met him).  He said the pain was excruciating.  He was in the hospital for a few days and they debated amputating that finger.  They were able to save it, but had to remove so much tissue from it, they needed to do a skin graft.

  • This entire week has been a week of Mondays.  I have had 2 drinks every night and I'm having 2 tonight too.  Aargh.

Also, I accidentally ending up over at Wedding Party and responded to a post there before realizing it.

Not too much really.  SSDD in my life.
  • Currently planning a pedicure for late April
I need my feet done so bad. I usually get at least 2 during summer - beginning and end - but it's been since .... 2019?

My peloton arrived today! So excited. And a little scared.
Did you see the workout mirror skit from SNL?  It's so damn funny.

They may have done a peloton one recently too.

Anyway, have fun!!  I've heard there's a frillion classes.

I didn't see the workout mirror one, but they did do a peloton one.  The name of the bike was "Pelotaunt" and it featured passive-aggressive instructors who "motivated" using negative reinforcement.

It was especially funny to me because, while I realize I'm an oddball for this, I've never liked the over-the-top "enthusiasm" and gushing positive comments that you typically hear in exercise classes.  However, it was at least at tolerable levels when I used to go to the gym.  But the instructors in the Peloton commercials are so much worse than that!  It comes off so fake and annoying.  If that is how most of the instructors really are, I couldn't stand to do their online classes.

Durr.  I did watch that one.  I usually watch SNL clips on Monday.

The workout mirror one was from this past weekend.  We actually caught it live this week.
  • I hope you love it @STARMOON44!  I am starting to enjoy mine and I can stay on longer than 15 minutes - just what like @banana468 told me would happen.

i’ll have to catch those snl clips

Oh, okay!  I record SNL and rarely watch it live also.  I haven't seen this past weekend's episode.  Now I'm looking forward to seeing their Mirror skit, since I liked the Pelotaunt one so much, lol.

  • I have a digital membership to Peloton and their instructors are motivating but aren't overly like Patty Simcox.  Plus there are so many you can pay attention and figure out which ones you like and don't like.    None of them are Pelotaunts but I kind of like some of the encouragement.

I'm no expert and I don't have great endurance but do try different classes all the time and generally find that I pick now based on type, then length, and then music choice.  If I want a 20 minute HIIT class there are enough options that I won't pick one that is EDM if I'm more in the mood for classic rock.

Nick Jonas was a great host, but I prefer his musical talents when he's with his brothers. But he's actually pretty funny and did a great job with most the sketches he was in.
  • The SNL Peleton/mirror skits have been hilarious!
  • @short+sassy how scary about the snakes!! And every time our building would have a fire drill and then everyone piled back in the elevators to go back up to the offices I started standing back and waiting until the end. I don't have elevator anxiety but also don't want to get stuck crammed in like that.
  • I'd definitely drop the $$$ to order a Pelotaunt....
