Wedding Woes

A new Prudie day is dawning!!

I believe the new Prudie has started (Torie Bosch) or they're trying out ones other than Lavery.  But anyway...coming soon.

My day off was yesterday.  I did an equal amount of getting stuff done and chillaxing.  The day ended with DH and I sitting on the deck cracking each other up and then having BCBC.  So good damn day all around.

It's DefConn's last day of 4th grade!!  I want to cry!  But yay for not being on the school schedule. He told me his 3rd teacher, whom we adored, is switching to 5th.  I kind of have my fingers crossed he'll get her again.

I'm sad the weather is gonna suck this weekend, which means no boating (it's not going to be warm enough).  We are having a cookout on Saturday, which will be fun.

  • Wow done with school already @mrsconn23! I forget has he been in person?

It’s finally cooled off here! It’s 65 and sunny with a breeze. It could stay like this all summer and I’d be happy.

Softball tonight and H and I both are taking 4 day weekends. Small gathering at my sister’s and probably spending some time in the woods. No real plans and I’m pretty happy about that!
  • @charlotte989875, in person all year.

Oh right- I forgot about all of the quarantines!
  • Happy Friday eve!

Raining here today but yesterday was gorgeous.  70 degrees and sunny.  Supposed to be cool this weekend with a few showers.

Saturday we'll take my Mom and go put flowers out at the cemeteries.  We usually make a day of it with lunch.  Hoping to stop at BigLots.  Ours closed several years ago but there is one in the area of one of the cemeteries.  We'll see how the day goes.

Sunday is recliner church and then a trip in the other direction to put flowers out at DH's parent's gravesite.

Otherwise just little things around the house.  Need to get a garden hose to water my flowers as hauling a watering can is getting old.  We discovered the huge tree behind our property is a cottonwood.  We have fluff everywhere!  Hopefully, the rain will knock it down a bit. It looked like it was snowing last night.  Fortunately, almost all of our window screens are on the inside so it won't stick there.

Some work foolery going on.  Last week my co-worker and I reported a suspected bug in the system we support.  IT reported that it wasn't a bug, but we shouldn't have had access to what wasn't working in the first place but nothing had changed with our access.  Yes, we've had that access for over a year and have used it many times per week to assist our users.  Nope, not possible.  Yesterday, one of the IT team ran into the same issue.  Guess what?  It's fixed now and we have our access back.  Ugh.

    Happy Prudie Day.

  • @casadena, enjoy your kid-free time!!

Do you have any boutique home decor stores in your area?  What about a succulent in a cute pot or something like that?
  • Yay @Casadena enjoy the night alone!!! Everything will be fine!
  • @Casadena I freaked first sleepover too lol but enjoy your time away :)

  • @charlotte989875 65 is at the bottom of my tolerable temperatures lol.
@Casadena Does she bake? what about one of those rolling pins with the fancy designs in them to make your cookies pretty? Or mats that has the measurements on it for pie crusts?

  • BK turns 3 tomorrow and I am not okay :( I have a lot of emotions about this. It feels like a milestone that isn't a milestone.

We have a dr appt tomorrow for her to get update on her size etc. I know she's behind in verbals, however - like daycare and I both agree on - she is capable. We just aren't sure what's holding her back.
I'm expecting to be sent to speech therapy, but even if they tell us she isn't behind I wanna know how to encourage her to speak.
  • @CharmedPam Even though I wanted BK to be potty trained by now, I feel it's a better age for her. She's more communicative and able to do certain things - like getting dressed 90% solo means able to pull up and down her pants.
So far I feel like 3 is going to be similar to 2 - which I didn't find terrible, as long as she was able to get a say in things.

    @MissKittyDanger, happy birthday to BK!

@mrsconn23, happy last day of school to Defconn.

Flood warnings coming up in Houston along with nice weather predictions. Wish the floods would go away.
  • @MissKittyDanger Chiquito was 3.5 when it clicked to use the bathroom.   He knew when he needed to be changed but kept making deposits.  They get there!

BK’s super close to my nephew’s (and godson) age, he turned 3 on Tuesday.  I think so anyway.. when I texted my bro and SIL a “happy 3rd” they didn’t correct me lol.

He has a big brother who does all the talking, and when we facetime it’s basically him staring into the phone smiling (as big brother does all the talking) but he’s seriously the sweetest boy.  I love 2-3 for some reason.
edit to add: on his lack of speech, my bro’s doctor says the same thing as @charlotte989875 mentioned, they all go at their own speed.

    we're doing 3 weeks in summer - from July 19th - August 8th - because that's our holidays.
She has the idea, because she'll use it at daycare but not constant. FX that the 3 weeks with only diaper at nap/bed will help

Just be prepared that she has to want to.    She has to express the desire to go, be aware of when she needs to pee and poop and ask to use.  If she doesn't then your 3 weeks will be training you to do laundry and spray Lysol.

    Happy Birthday BK!

If it helps- my best friend has twin girls that just turned 3 two weeks ago. One is super chatty and will speak unprompted to pretty much anyone. The other barely talks and only when asked things directly. They’re different kids who are doing things on their own timeline.
  • I know I pout about it every year, but Memorial Day isn't a holiday at my work so I'm not even getting a 3-day weekend.  We "trade it" for Mardi Gras.  But since there is a 3+ month gap between those days, it always feels like we're getting robbed, lol.

Weather-wise, I am so happy to be in the South during the winter.  But now we are getting into the time of year when I'm jealous of your all's mid-60s and 70s, lol.  Mid and high 80s and it will just be climbing higher as we get more into summer.

I'm excited about the weekend.  My friend and neighbor is in the television/movie industry and has been working in Los Angeles since last Fall.  But they wrapped up filming for this project and she's back in town for at least the summer.  We are getting together for drinks at her house on Friday to catch up.

I'm pretty sure I have some mystery shop audits to do after work tomorrow, but I need to double check that.  I know I have a breakfast mystery shop on Sat. morning, which is one of our favorite bunch places so my H and I are looking forward to it.  At some point, I also need to make a Costco or Sam's run.

I feel she does. She shows so many signs. Same as last year, but more .... idk. Acknowledgement isn't the word I'm going for .... awareness maybe is the word?

Yeh BK will do it if prompted - even go beyond what is expected {ie; 3-4 words and can say up to like 6?} but we figure it may be lack of other kids. She hasn't been around other kids since September because the 2 girls aren't there. We're hoping gymnastics with other kids will help

Lol so M and I were looking af things to do in the City this weekend and I suggested a crusie on Lake Michigan, but at sunset since we both don’t like the heat (instead of the afternoon one).
But then I checked the weather and it’s going to be 61 on Saturday.  This is the summer heat I can deal with!

edit: I just checked again and it’s showing 63.  The line is being drawn now....
