Discount Candy Tuesday

Tuesday Tuesday.  ‘Erbody’s favorite day.

I hope @short+sassy is enjoying Hawaii, while I prepare for another snowfall on Thursday (but in the 60’s)

Two eps of Ozark down! Soon I’ll be able to join that spoiler thread!

@varunaTT, did you like e-meals? You’re the one who tried it right? I saw an advert saying they partnered up with walmart pickup, so I joined the 2 week trial.  Only thing about walmart pick up: lots if stuff is out of stock when you go to pick it up (some swaps are available) PLUS the produce they pick can be pretty bad.  I chose 3 meals for next week and used both the walmart & amazon fresh options to go shopping with (I don’t have a lot in my area) and it was $55 and $57.  And that’s without the white wine and wine vinegar I needed and probably don’t have in my house but those were expensive items for such a small amounts needed.  So probably $65 if I were to get everything I needed?
Well, homechef is $65…. I love the quality of homechef and they include absolutely everything you need. Plus, since I reactived that account, my first 5 shipments are $45! It’s a no brainer.  I just have to watch the sauces with homechef and nix pork products. I quit them in the past due to high sodium levels (but maybe a lot of that was from the added salt they said to use… which I never did?).  I also understand that I’ll buy a big item of one thing with e-meals and then the next recipe may use that item and I won’t need to buy it again….but what if that doesn’t happen? Yaknow?

Re: Discount Candy Tuesday

  • Luckily it's not super cold like yesterday, and we're going to get a little mild hit but I am 100% fkn done with winter guhhhh

I have a test drive coming up with a chevy spark. I'm waiting until their 2 cars come in.
I'm gonna wait until their next batch comes to get one if I like it - probably 5-6 months, which is accurate to my time line of when I can afford it.
As I explained to M, I cannot afford BK's school AND a car.
I mean I could probably swing it for a short time if it's like car comes in May, but BK is done in June kinda deal.

We also talked to her school. She's distracted but they said nothing flags them as abnormal for a 3yr old
I feel better about that. I am going to talk to her dance class just so they know we're aware of the listening issues.
  • I feel like so many stores have caught on to people buying candy after the holiday because it never seems to be discounted that much anymore! Bummer.

I started Euphoria from the beginning last night and wow, is that a ride.
  • I need to figure out some sort of valentine thing for DefConn because his party is on Friday and the couple of stores I checked had zero non-candy options (candy cannot be passed out in class because there is no fun to be had in school, especially during class parties... /s I know why it's a rule, but it's annoying af).   I called DH to go check stores around his office  on his lunch break.  If he can't find anything, I'm going to have to find some cardstock and start printing some shit.  LOL

I didn't realize Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is coming back on Friday.  Wahoo!  It will help me get over my lack of new Ozark sadness.

I watched the first episode of Euphoria and it was too much for me at the time.  The kiddo was a senior in HS and off the rails.  I could not have my entertainment be about  teenager disasters too, LOL. I need to circle back because I really do like Zendaya and Eric Dane.

We just had a employee survey results meeting.  We didn't get to the part I really wanted to talk about, but our director said she's going to schedule another time to finish up.  I hope it happens because I know I have shit to say, as my co-workers probably do.

    SSDD otherwise.  It's blergsday...I mean, Tuesday.  ;)
  • Yup @climbingsingle I popped into CVS on a free period earlier today, none of it was on sale.  The St. Patrick's and Easter stuff was coming out, I love spring and its holidays so that was at least a boost.
@MissKittyDanger what kind of listening issues?  Three is a tricky age, lots of preschoolers have troubles throughout the school day, if it makes you feel any better.  Aggressive behaviors (hitting, throwing all the other kids' coats off the coat rack, etc.) are more a red flag at that age than anything else.

Is anyone else kind of enjoying the gen x/millennial back forth over the halftime show?

This.  Three year olds are amazing at saying they understand what you told them and then taking off to do the exact opposite of what you said.
  • Blergsday, but at least my weekly call from hell is over. I feel like once I get to that point on Tuesday morning, the rest of the week can be productive.

We started Inventing Anna (with Ruth from Ozark) last night. I can't decide what I think yet, but it's going to be interesting. Nothing much else going on. The sun is coming up earlier and my bulbs are up, so I need it to be spring already.
  • When Chiquita hit 3 it was worse than 2 and she wasn't always a prize at 2.  They're all about boundary testing.  I talked to the parents of her best friend and they said that they didn't have their flat screen tethered to the wall because the BF was just the type of kid to not touch something if they said not to do it. I giggled and said, "Yeah, Chiquita's the type to not touch it during your conversation and all bets are off in 5 min."   This remains the case for her personality type now and my son is the same.   Every day is Groundhog Day in my house.

I'm guessing that candy isn't going to be marked down for at least a week and/or until they need it to move.

Supply chain stuff is making the day frustrating and it's going to get worse before it gets better.  If you see something you want that isn't perishable go buy it.  You may have a long wait to get it again.

OMG thank you. My 6 seems to have the memory of an elephant for some things and a goldfish for others. We have discussed X behavior 500 times (I am probably not exaggerating in some instances) AND YET. Glad to know it's not just her.

My son had his 100th day of school and they made a 100 day book.  It had things like "I can lift 100___."  "I wish I had 100___."  His "I would not like 100____," was "Chiquita".  Above his sister's name was a picture he drew of her captioned, "You suck Chiquito."  I LOVE that now the 2nd grade teacher sees "Suck" as part of my child's vocabulary.
  • @ei34 yeh her school said there was nothing flagging them about any issues they would bring it up, but confirmed kind of what we thought - easily distracted.
There's also the blatant ignoring us
I'm just worried we'll miss flags since M, my mum and uncles are all ADHD and diagnosed young and females are harder to diagnose.

My eternal parenting fear is missing something that should have been addressed early.
  • Everything is chaos here. I had to pick baby M up from my mom at 11 yesterday because she was having heart issues. We spent all day the ER (she went in an ambulance) before she was even seen by a doctor or nurse. She’s still there now.

H’s Mom came to watch the baby and she can come tomorrow but I have no idea what we’ll do after that. Also we’re sleep training. Everything is hard today.
  • I started Inventing Anna and I’m hooked @MyNameIsNot. I wasn’t sure after the first episode but I’m about to start episode 3 and I’m glued.
  • I could not watch Euphoria. I made it through a few episodes and objectively it was quite good but it just reminded me so much of my brother it was painful and I had to stop. I need my entertainment to help me escape all of the daily life shit. I don’t want to relive it in my leisure time.

It was 90 degrees yesterday and today it is 55 and raining. Weather is a trip.

Work is a mess but that’s nothing new. I came in and there were immediately 1000 things wrong I had to take care of. So much for my day off yesterday. Hopefully we can hike tonight barring the rain. We ended our “dry January” this weekend and I’m glad we’re not drinking for the next few weeks until my birthday. I love me some drinks but it’s true, you feel so much better without any alcohol at all.

Oh gosh @charlotte989875 all the healthy vibes for your mom!
@MissKittyDanger totally get not wanting to miss something
@banana468 thank you for your sentence about supply chain issues and grabbing nonperishable things now...this makes me feel better about casually being in Party City last week, noticing they didn't have Communion balloons, asking the cashier when they'd be coming in and the cashier saying she didn't know when, which obviously led to me panic ordering a bunch of Communion balloons on amazon.  That arrived yesterday, three months ahead of DD's actual Communion.  Your comment justifies my actions  :D

Oh boy you reminded me to buy some 1st Communion items for Chiquito!
  • @CharmedPam I did use them for a long time.  But they combined their vegetarian/vegan plans and it turned into a lot of "use vegan cheese/butter/etc" stuff and I don't care for that style of vegan cooking. I never had any issues with my Walmart, but I used a Neighborhood style and that seems to be a difference.  The stuff you talked about I already have in my pantry.  I never cared for the pre-delivered stuff I tried, though it was when I was still planning/cooking for 2, so it might be different now.

@ei34 I am.  I had posted, "Hey Millenials, this is GenX gladly sharing our artists with you b/c they've been around for awhile.  If anyone is claiming those 45-50+ year olds on stage, it's us and you're welcome for our support of their careers from the beginning".  Mostly I've seen millenials trying to lord it over GenZ and GenX calling them out about it.  It's been funny, but I love GenX Tiktok.

Work is still a shit show and I'm tired of bitching about it.  Our HI is apparently back, though we don't know that through any official announcement, just employees checking.  I'm sticking to my plan that gets me not just out of this place but this godforsaken small town city and I will never look back.  Though there is a personal project on my horizon that I think sounds super interesting and fun and will give me something to do that is in my wheelhouse, but not anything I've done before, not queer based, and with people I've worked with before and super enjoy and respect their abilities.

Otherwise, I'm pretty contented and at peace with things generally.
  • @charlotte989875, Best wishes for your mom. I hope you're getting more info.
  • I don't think arguing when a specific album comes out is what determines the generation an artist belongs to.  These are artists who have careers that spanned decades.  All of us will have connections to them simply through life.  We wouldn't argue that P!nk was GenZ, even though GenZ is still growing up with her having a decades long career and new music.

Family Affair/No More Drama was Mary's 5th album.  What's the 411 was a revelation to hip-hop/R&B and was a massive album from 1992 that won a ton of awards and is considered one of the best albums of the 90s.  She is solidly GenX, even if that particular album was 2001. (Full disclosure: I worked at Blockbuster Music from 1994-whenever it was bought out by Wherehouse Music and for 2 years after that, so I think 2000ish?  I remember selling out of Prince's 1999 for those NYE parties).

Eminem's first album was Real Slim Shady, in 1997.  Also, solidly GenX and controversial AF.

Dre is solidly GenX artist, for same reasons.

I'll give you that 50 is definitely elder millenial.

  • Elder millennials were in high school in the late 90s.
Yup.  I'm on the millennial/X cusp.  Graduated in '98. My brother graduated in 01.  Ain't nothin but a g Thang was middle school.  Snoop has been mainstream for 30 years

Same exact. Graduated HS in '98. I'd rather consider myself GenX :-P

Agree.  The weird thing is to think that my brother and I are two generations because he was born in 83.
  • @banana468 totally - my brother was born in 82.

Same! I'm 80, sister is 83. I'm generally GenX or Xenial, but she's absolutely not GenX.
