Wedding Woes

Day of the Prudie

What's up?  I'm glad the week is almost over.  Even though I had yesterday off, LOL.  But I'm just done with work this week.

SSDD around here.  DefConn has his last ever scouts meeting tonight.  They 'cross over' on Saturday, but I don't think we're moving on.  He wants to pursue other interests and activities in Jr High.

Prudie soon.

Re: Day of the Prudie

  • DD had a chorus practice that started at 7:20 this morning so that was a fun drive at 7 AM.

    This week she's in a regional music festival and I get the fun job of having to drive her an hour to the school where the practice and concert will be because the school can't get a bus so it's 7:30 AM departure on Saturday!

    I'm kind of excited that her snowshoeing activity is cancelled Sunday so I can get more sleep.  I had insomnia Mon and Tues night and I need more sleep!  Yesterday I had a ton of fluids/tea which I think helped.

    Yesterday I learned that if you oversteep green tea or use water that's too hot it will taste like grass.

    Yesterday my green tea tasted like grass.
  • Aw, how bittersweet for Defconn.

    I took today off of work. I only have ten more days left after today. I have a meeting with a member of the onboarding team in a few hours and then I have my face appointment at 4. Hopefully they tell me I’m on track with my original start date. Otherwise I have plans to work out and clean the house today. It’s supposed to do a 180 and rain hard tomorrow with a chill. It was 90 the past couple of days and this extreme back and forth is really crazy and reflective of just how bad the climate change has gotten.

    Hoping everyone is hanging in there at your house @charlotte989875

  • I would like to figure out why I am so sleepy this week.  However, I did party it up this past weekend and I've been hyperfocused at work, so that could all be playing into it.  Thursday always seems like my "IDK if I can make it" day anyway, but I have a goal of not missing a day (w/in my control, weather doesn't count), through June and finally get some time banked.

    Putting in a walmart order b/c I'm out of popcorn and that is just a no-go for me and I need some small other things.  I finished "Inventing Anna" yesterday.  I did like the story overall and I feel like all of the acting and writing was well done.  I just don't think I liked the actress playing the reporter's portrayal.  IDK what I'll be watching next, time for a new dice roll.  However, Harvey Fierstein's new autobiography is on it's way to me and I'm really excited to read it, so TV watching might be on hold for a bit.
  • Yay for 7 am car drives! Lol  I’d be up at 6:55 for that 🤣
    face appointment @levioosa? Did I miss something?

    Last night I had a successful date.  Our 2nd, actually.  I think we’re on track for date #3.  Funny story, we started talking in October on okcupid.  We clicked.  Had a date set up.  Then he emailed and said he normally doesn’t talk to a few people, but he had been - and he met someone and wanted to see where it went with her. I said that’s fine, it happens.  He even shut down his acct after explaining that to me. Then, I met J a week later and we started dating.  After J and I went splitsville, I signed back onto okcupid.  I saw that P was back on as well, but didn’t think anything of it.
    A few weeks later he contacted me (after reading in my horoscope that someone from my past WAS going to reach out to me). I asked my friends (because I don’t do anything without polling my friends and getting their input) if I should give him a 2nd chance or he made his decision and nope.  They said what could it hurt? He was nice by not ghosting me and telling me the truth before leaving the site. Anyway, he broke it off with the other woman because she was a smoker and it bothered him. I’m like, cool, I met someone too and I broke it off with him because he was an alcoholic liar, and that bothered me.

    It was a nice night out, so we were walking around in my old neighborhood by a small pond. He then said “there’s a bench.  Want to sit?”
    ”sure, if it’s not to cold”.
    We made out for a bit….and then I realized we were on the same bench my ExH and I were on when he proposed to me.  Oops.
    Oh. And then I came home from that date, with a text from my ex.  He sent me pictures of the funeral (happened to be that day).  Open casket.  Weird right?!? Like, I get that I’d have to see that if I was there in person… but I wasn’t.

  • @CharmedPam I’m getting my Botox and filler. They called a few days ago to ask if I wanted to come in earlier and for a moment I thought they were canceling the appointment and I panicked, lol. I was like you can’t cancel, I’m getting married this month. That text would bother me too. No thank you. I don’t even like attending those in person.

    Ooooh GL @levioosa Did I tell you about the “slushy” I’m getting in my tear troughs? It’s a mix of a prp treatment and a filler - helps with dark undereyes, bags, hollows AND the laugh lines. Getting it on the 11th. Buuuuuuuut it leaves bruising for 2 days after so I chose a weekend I can stay locked in.  I would not recommend it a day before your wedding lol

  • @levioosa, I saw on your other post that this is a job you have been wanting since 2013.  Congrats again!  I'm glad all your hard work has paid off.  I know your current job has left a lot to be desired, so yay only 10 days left.

    My Costco gig went a little sideways while I was on vacation.  We were told Costco wasn't happy with the program.  They actually aren't the client, a "discount app" company is.  I expected the program was going to totally end, but it didn't.  The company I work directly for "saved it".  No idea how they did that or what happened on the back end.  We did limited departments last week, about half of our usual.  But, this week, we are back to full throttle.  My H did all of it last week and then we were on vacation for the two previous weeks.  It was nice (for me) to have a 3-week break from the gig!

    But now it's back to normal this week.  And Thursday is my hard-core day where I work until 5 and then go do some of the Costco gig until 8:30ish.

    TBH, it's not especially worth the money.  It usually works out to be around $15/hour, though it's a price per scan, not an hourly wage.  But, since my H isn't working and he does more of the gig than I do, I guess it's worth it for now.  We only get paid once a month, but it comes around the same time as one of the two paychecks for our other gig job.  And that's enough money to pay our personal mortgage.  So it's nice to have that large expense covered by money that's outside of our rentals and my W-2 income.

  • It was a morning I felt like I ran a marathon before getting to work.

    Dropped BK at preschool and realized I forgot my phone!
    Decided to go back home because I was sure I had a phone call today {I do not}
    Opted to get coffee. Window frozen so go into the place.
    Cannot figure out where to put coffees as I decided to get for co-workers {in tray on floor is not option - I have some trash there & it's wet}
    Finally get to work but late because also crazy traffic from accident at other end of city causing highways stalled.

    At lunch I have to swing by walmart to see if they have splash pants because spring weather is likely coming faster than I anticipated.

    Fun BK story from last night - at 2am because nightmare wake up
    {Back story, she spilt some chocolate milk - it's fine}
    Me: Night night BK
    BK: mama?
    Me: yes?
    BK: thank you :)
    Me: for what?
    BK: Cleaning the chocolate milk
    Me: oh ... no problem. Spills happen.
    BK: thank you. Night night
  • @CharmedPam I have really mixed feelings about photos near caskets.  For the nieces that passed there are family shots saved online in a family only album because there are so few images of them that were even possible.

    Over the summer I thought about and did not take a photo of Chiquito kneeling in front of his great grandmother.  He went up to her kneeler for the 2nd time and unprompted just stayed there for a few minutes.  It was something I wanted to keep for me but I NEVER would have sent it out for others to see because I think there's absolutely something that is to be private about it.
  • Thanks @levioosa we’re hanging in best we can. Symptoms are mild and not any worse today so I think that’s good. Just so angry we have it again.
  • They lifted the mask mandates in NOLA this morning.  Our mayor had said all along that we were keeping the mandate, at least until after MG.  Which I wholeheartedly agreed with.  But I'm also glad they were lifted so quickly afterwards because my Costco gig is a lot easier to do without a mask.  And it's such a big store that, even when it is busy, I'm rarely within 6' of another person anyway.

    They're starting to lift in varying places {rumour is in Canada soon}

    I'm not going to lie, it's really pissing me off. Under 5 cannot get the vaccine. If they could, I feel like I'd be more on board with mandates being lifted soon.

    SAME.
  • Raise your hand if you nearly had a breakdown at walmart because you got frustrated with the new layout and can't find ANYTHING on top of the fact they put wiper fluid in a weird fkn spot so you spent 30min looking and trying not to cry.

    *raises hand*

    I now have to call M after work because I cannot drive home with no wiper fluid when dirty is all over my wind shield.

    To be fair, NOLA has always had strict guidelines they stick to for when they lift/put back in place the mask mandates.  It's based on a number of COVID data points like infection rates, hospitalization, etc.  And not on the whim of public opinion.

    It's very rare I trust anything NOLA government does, lol.  But when it comes to COVID measures and safety, I do.  So if they feel it's relatively safe to drop the mask mandate, I believe it is.

    We met those benchmarks awhile ago but, with such a large multi-day event and people visiting from places that are a lot more lax, we weren't going to lift the mandate until it was over.

    We still have the vaccine mandate for indoor places like restaurants, bars, entertainment venues.  Though they have said they might be lifting those at the end of the month.  To go to public school (maybe private also?), children 5 and up need to be vaccinated.

    Oh no I get it. We've never had masking mandates lifted since in place.

    Here it's a whole bunch of mandates being lifted. Vaccine one I'm meh on but the masking one bugs me.
    To be clear I'm meh on vaccine mandates because it's a slow roll on kids getting vax here.
    I felt BK and other under 5's were safe with mask mandates - not that we went anywhere lol

    Oh!  The vaccine mandates are only for people old enough to have a vaccine, jic that was misunderstood.  So, for example, if it's a family of 3 going to a restaurant and it's two adults and one 4-year-old.  The adults would need to show their proof of vaccine, but the young child could still go because they aren't old enough to have been vaccinated.

    When the vaccine was first approved for kids 5-11, there was a lag for a few months where those kids did not need to show proof of vaccine.  But then, as of a certain date, they had to also.

    I personally still wear my mask in a lot of places, especially when I can't social distance.  Just not for my Costco gig.  I'm there for hours, the mask fogs up my glasses in cold areas, and I'm not around anyone 99% of the time.  If I am, I put my mask on for a few minutes.  That's the one place where, to me, it's especially annoying to wear a mask and there isn't much point to it either.
