My first full. Im totally nervous! I did my first half in Austin this past February. I did good, 2hrs, 9min. I was very happy with that, especially since its so dang hilly in Austin!!! Im training with Katy Fit, and I have a whole group and a schedule and coaches, so I think ill be okay. But I still get butterflies thinking about it. WHEN i finish it - I think it will be the biggest achievement of my life so far. 26.2 miles is a LONG way!

good luck mrunner!  I have heard there are few better places to run your first full. 1 its super flat and 2 its just run amazingly well.My FI did his first full there this past Jan.  He plans on running more but says the halfs are much much more enjoyable.

DH and I will be running the half this time around, and maybe the full next time. Considering I never run more than 5 miles, this will definitely be a challenge.  SO excited though!

I have heard it is a pretty good course. Only one overpass hill to worry about, although the stretch through memorial park is gradually uphill and my sis said that is where she had the biggest desire to quit. (She qualified for Boston last January though, so she is pretty good at running through that desire!) The half was not hard at all. I trained, but not like crazy. I just tried to run as much as I could. I bet the most I did was 8 occasionally, then I did a 10 miler two weeks before the race. I felt really good after the half. I just cant imagine turning around and running the entire course again!!!

haha FI died in Memorial Park too.  he said he just hit a wall, and that there are not many people to cheer you on through there.   sounds like a good place to eat one of your gels!good luck with the training, sounds like you have a great group to keep you motivated!

I have cheered at two houston marathon's, and I always wondered if it made a difference, or if it just annoyed the runners. But I felt it really helped during my half. One stretch in Austin had a ton of people and it kinda motivates you to stand up stariaght, run a little fatser, etc. Its kinda cool. The best thing was having my sister and her bf cheer for me though. I have watched that girl run so much and cheered for her, it was cool to see THEM cheering for ME! At one point I was running and didnt hear the,. Finally I heard my name, and they were running down the sidewalk screaming my name and waving thier arms! At that moment I didnt care if I walked the whole thing - I felt like a champion.

Sorry I'm late but I haven't been on TK all day. We (FI & I) registered for the full but we're going to trade down to the half because we registered too late and there were no more spots left in the half.
