question/vent

So wedding invites start going out (today...well they were suppose 2)1. I sent one out early July to a friend who will be moving to Quatar...either way...she got the invite no problem.2. I asked a mail person over the weekend how many stamps the "nicer" invites would cost...he said .44 cents.(we have 2 different invites, the diff is that one has like a cover/bow and the other one doesnt--both still nice)So now my mom took the out of state invites to the post office, and now they are telling us that each "nice" invite needs an additional .44 stamps b/c of the big bow, and the other invites need an additional .20 stamps b/c of a small white bow....WTF the first invite went out with no problem, whats going on? something about not going thru the machine without pressure????

That sucks... I went through this with my save the dates.  They were $1 to send.  They way I understood it was:If you don't want your invite to go through the normal mail machine then you have to pay the extra for them to be hand sorted.  If they can go through the machine (much like an electrical stamp machine) then the .44 is fine...I would call and get a second opinnion.

they arent very heavy...one invitation is one piece of cardstock plus that see thru paper...the second invites is one piece of of cadstock with 2 pieces of see thru paper...its the bow that's coming out to be .44 and .20 more...One invitation already went out and made it to the person without any issues...

I would try sending one to yourself or you mom (someone) and see if it goes through.  I'm sure it will...

Honestly, I think they will be fine. I think they tell you one thing at the post office to be lazy, and another a different time. I slap a .44 cent stamp on those bad boys and put them in the nearest blue mailbox!

Sava the SAME thing happened to me. Mine were square shaped so they said they were fine the first time I sent off the majority...I started getting calls about how there was postage due put on the invites. Great. Half got them that said that others got held at the post office to have the postage paid ( 4 cents in one case!) it was insane. I had them weighed a second time and it was fine again. They said it apparently didn't fit in the machines. I wish they couldve told me that the first time I went in there.
