Wedding planning with out friends sucks!!!!

So I am from California and have lived in Houston for 3 years now. I have never had such a hard time meetng new people and making friends. Now that I am getting married I am starting to really miss having my friends around. I can honestly say that I have  been having a hard time enjoying the experience of planning a wedding because all of my close friends live in California. I figured I would give it a shot and try to meet new people on here because I heard you can really meet alot of cool people on here.

@ MPWDPW: LOL I hear you. It seems like once you tell people your getting married your wedding becomes their wedding lol. But it still would be nice to meet some new people. How long have you lived here. How is your weeding planning going with out your friends being here?

I understand where you are coming from. My friends and family live up north. I have one close friend here and planning has been hard. Thankfully my mom will be here a month before to help with the last minute details.

I have been in Houston for about as long as you. The only close friends we have here in Houston are two of fiancés guy friends. All of our bridal party lives well outside the Houston area. Even our families don't live in Houston! I am still having a blast planning my wedding but I am not as far along as I would like to be. Planning a wedding long distance is a challenge.

Same here.  My friends and family are all in Dallas (where I'm from) and it makes it difficult to do everything by myself.  I know Dallas is fairly close, but it's a 4.5 hour drive for me and I only get weekends there.

It can be difficult planning a wedding from a distance. Mine is just in Beaumont, but still with work and life, it can get tough. But there are some nice folks around TK, so you can at least find people to talk wedding stuff with!

I have lived in houston for about 3 years.  I  know a lot of my brothers friends and fiance's friends.  Thats about it though!  My wedding planning is complete.  I hired a wedding coordinator and she has helped a lot.  My mom has too as well as my fiance.  I'm just working on my seating chart now and getting the few rsvps in that i still need.

i moved here about 2 years ago and didn't really know anyone 15 months ago when i started planning my wedding on cape cod, in massachusetts, where DH grew up. we picked the venue during one trip out east (for the engagement party), then 10 months later, went back for hair and make up trials (x2 b/c the first ones were awful), sealed the contract with the venue, picked out our wedding bands, met the photographer and the florist, had the bridal shower and hired a DJ in 3 1/2 days.

it was exhausting and although DH helped as much as he could, it was really lonely making all those programs, menus, table cards, seat assignment cards and STDs by myself. but it's done and the wedding was great.
