anyone using a wedding planner?

I went to an open house and met a real nice lady that does wedding planner, fiance said maybe i need help . .. i don't know what do you think? i'm not having a huge wedding but i think it might help me have a stress free wedding and i won't have to burden my bff or mother with details on the final day.  My main concern is that i'll end up paying more for things but fiance thinks she will get us deals on things??

I'm using a "Day-of" coordinator, not a planner.  I just wanted someone that I can hand over my last minute details to and make sure they are done, so I can enjoy my wedding day. I didn't want to use my friends or family, because I want them to enjoy the day too.

I have been thinking about having a DOC as well as the event manager from our venue. the DOC (day of coordinator) is technically a wedding planner, but help you tie it all together the weekend of or month of (depending on the person). Wedding planning can be fun, its really what you make of it.

I am using a DOC as well to help with vendor communication on the wedding day and also to just talk with when I have any specific questions. It's always nice to have an expert go-to person.

I have a wedding planner mainly because she really does have exclusive deals and she knows how to do alot of DIY stuff. Her entire fee is about the same as some planner's DOC fee, and she has alot of yrs experience.  You just have to find the right one and they can save you money and give you someone to talk wedding with as much as you want.

I had a DOC. I am sooo happy I got her too. I had my wedding out of town so I wasnt always able to get things done myself, she was a big help. and it was nice to just let her take it and go on the day of. No worries :)

I have a DOC and it is a HUGE relief to have him in place to handle the small stuf.  My family and friends will enjoy the day and not have to do anything but enjoy themselves.  I believe he has saved me money by getting me with certian vendors.

have you thought about looking on here or on craigslist for someone to do it for free? I'm planning to start my coordinating business in february so I'm doing DOC for free until then (and most of my brides I found on here.) I'm sure there are other people who could do yours.... also, I know some knotties do doc "exchanges" where they doc each others weddings....

I'm using Jennifer Wood.  She's helping with a few things plus the day of.  It has been wonderful having her set up all the appointments and she also gave me her vendor list which most are reasonably inexpensive.  Plus she is FABULOUS!!  I love her!
