Wedding Vows & Ceremony Discussions

2 ceremonies in 1 day

So my fiance and I have been talking about our wedding plans and both of us have agreed that we would like to have an outdoor ceremony and preferrably someplace that we can have both the ceremony and reception take place at. Now his parents are very religious (catholic to be specific) and would really like us to get married in the church so that later down the line if we have kids we can raise them catholic. Now I know the catholic church will not marry you outside the church, but would if be completely unrealitic to have a small ceremony in a church in the morning with just our parents as witnessess and then seperate to get ready and rejoin later in the evening for a formal outdoor ceremony for all of our friends and family? One of my biggest concerns is, will it be expensive to not only pay the priest/precanta classes in additional to hiring a nondemoninational figure to do the civil ceremony? My last concern is, will it feel as special then when we actually have our night ceremony? I would like to just wear a simple dress for the church ceremony because its not really that important to me, but will already being "officially" married take away the effect of the nightime civil ceremony? I'm very concerned and could really use some guidance. Thanks ladies!!!
