My reviews! Part 1....

I always thought these were helpful.  I decided to do mine based on a scale of 1-5, with 5 being the best.  A score of 3 is "meets expectations" so it's not necessarily bad.  These are the vendors from the reception part.  I'm working backwards.  :-)Baker: Corby's Cakes and Cookies - 4Great tasting cake, great price.  It had 5 tiers, but some were taller and some were shorter.  I wanted a REALLY SIMPLE cake, and Shemry didn't try to convince me otherwise like the other bakers we met with.  We had to provide our own cake plate, but that ended up being a fun DIY project.  We went with a lemon sour cream cake with strawberry and orange buttercream fillings.  The top tier is in our freezer!  She's definitely getting busier so your email might not get a reply immediately but she's fantastic!!Caterer: Atomic Catering - 4We've gotten so many compliments on the food.  We knew we wanted to serve it all family style, so we went with bacon-wrapped mini meatloaf, cranberry roasted chicken, macaroni and cheese, garlic mashed potatoes, grilled veggies, cheddar cornbread, I forget what else.  We did do a plated salad, at their suggestion and I'm glad.  We didn't go to our cocktail hour, but the things we sampled at our tasting were fantastic!  Atomic totally worked with us and our guests (some vegetarian, gluten-free, picky kids, etc.).  The staff was really nice and helpful the day of.  They did everything how I wanted them to.  They do a ton of weddings so they have the experience.  They are a bigger company, so they have a lot of clients so I didn't get much personalized attention, but we are a laid-back couple and didn't really need that.  I was very happy with the price, too, since this was the biggest part of our budget.DJ: Curtis Knight DJ (we used Mark Cherone) - 4Curtis Knight is a DJ company out of Boston.  They ask you questions about your wedding and then pair you up with a DJ who they think will be the best fit.  If you like their choice, great!  If not, you can get more options until you find a good match.  We went with their first option.  I actually knew Mark already since he plays in a band that I've photographed before.  You get your own site through Curtis Knight, where you fill in all the info - times, names, songs, DNP lists, overall feel, etc.  We LOVED that.  My dad loved the DJ and an aunt said she'd never danced more at a wedding.  So we know our guests liked the music!  The DJ was supposed to invite ALL fathers and daughters to dance with me and my dad halfway through our song, but he forgot so we had to make up moves to the second part of the song (we'd choreographed the first half).  Same with the Mother-Son dance.  He apologized right away, and we realized it was fine and no one even knew anything anyway.  We had no DNP list and just told him to read the crowd.  I didn't hear one song I didn't like.  Pianist: Bruce Lewis - 5We had Bruce play the cocktail hour.  He was probably our most ideal vendor.  His communication through email was fantastic - very thorough.  We wanted a jazz feel.  The music I heard was great!  He stopped us to say goodbye and wish us his best before he left.  Venue: Roger Williams Park Casino - 4Heather is awesome.  She doesn't jerk you around, tells you how it is, and that's that.  In the wedding industry where it seems like everyone is just trying to get your money, it was so refreshing to have her give us the info we needed.  We worked with Heather up until the day.  She gets a 5.  :-)  The day of the wedding, another lady was assigned to our wedding.  I don't think she wanted to be there.  We were in the bridal suite on the bottom floor, and asked her for the quickest way to get upstairs, and instead of showing us, she said turn left, go through the door, immediate right, blah blah.  We got lost in the kitchen.  Then later, she sent the caterer's head person to tell us to put our gifts and cards into someone's car.  I had to run around to find the person we'd asked to do that and get him to do it RIGHT THEN.  All I wanted to do was eat my salad, haha.  But the space is AMAZING and it looked fantastic.  Our guests loved the whole building!  I loved their setup with the cocktail hour downstairs and the reception upstairs.  We knew this was our venue immediately.
