New to this... In need of an outdoor location!

Hello-
I am recently engaged and stepping into the planning world. I have always dreamed of my wedding outdoors under a white tent with icicle lights...however my dilemna is finding a field with electricity that isn't my parents backyard.

Does any one have an suggestions of a beautiful field that wont cost a fortune because I will have to pay for the tent, table, chairs, linens, dance floor, food and drinks.

Any help is appreciated!!!

Thanks

    Welcome and congrats!

There are a few places that could fit your description in the Local section of the actual knot site, but their fees for the site rental can be pricey.  Not on the list is a farm that was down the street from where I grew up, Dame Farm (Snake Den state park), on the Johnston/Greenville line.  They may be willing to cut you a deal since they don't do that many events there that aren't outside of their circle.  Good luck!

I can think of a few venues that do tents, but as PP says, they are pretty pricey. Blithewold Mansion in Bristol and The Botanical Garden at Roger Williams Park have tents that are up for the season.

You also could look into the vineyards. Sakonnet does outdoor weddings under a tent. Newport Vineyards has a tent with permanent sides but it only fits 100. There is also a tent site at Greenvale Vineyards.

You also could look into South County Museum in Narragansett, Smith's Castle in North Kingstown or the Smith-Appleby House in Smithfield. http://www.smithapplebyhouse.org/rentals.htm I love that last site but we didn't want a tent wedding. And now we're having a partial one anyway! Our site is The Meeting House in Tiverton. I suppose you could have the whole thing under a tent, but we're doing ceremony and dancing inside the meeting house and dinner under a tent. www.themeetinghouse.info.

There's also the Eisenhower House in Newport: http://www.eisenhowerhouse.com/picturegallery.htm

Or you could try Five Bridges Inn in Rehoboth, also a tent site where a few Knotties have had their weddings.

Also the state parks are an option. We were at Colt State Park during a wedding under a huge tent last year, but be aware that no alcohol is allowed at most municipal and all state parks.

I don't know pricing, but Mt. Hope Farm in Bristol is beautiful.  Also Country Gardens in Rehoboth, MA.

We looked into Five Bridges Inn in Rehoboth, it's a converted farmhouse.  They give the wedding party the entire B&B and complimentary poolside breakfast the morning after the wedding.  The tents are beautiful, I believe there are three tents, one for the dance floor, one for the bar and a third.  The grounds are really beautiful.  You'd have to bring in an outside caterer/cake/tables/chairs/ linens, etc which is where you're going to spend the most money.  We changed our date to October so we won't be having an outdoor ceremony anymore, but if we were going forward with a summer wedding, it would be hard to beat Five Bridges.
