Sam C for Hair - Question about contract

Hi Everyone!

I just booked Sam C to do the hair for all my bridesmaids. I asked Sam if I needed to sign a contract, and she said that she works on the honor system. This is my first vendor that does not require a contract, is this typical for hair vendors?

I don't know if this is typcial but i'm not letting any of my vendors proceed on the "honor system". It is in everyone's best interest to have a contract. If Sam doesn't want to make one then you should.  The honor system won't exactly help you out if something goes wrong and Sam doesn't show up at the required time. I don't care how much I trust a vendor the fact of the matter is that we are giving each of our vendors a lot of money to perform on a very important day and you just never know what things could happen which would prevent a vendor from coming through.

You should never hesitate to require a contract from a vendor or ask for terms of a contract to be changed.  I didn't like some of the terms of my DJ's contract and when I expressed this to him he changed it right away.

It doesnt have to be a very detailed contract but you need to have a signed writing from Sam promising to show up on the agreed upon date and time for the agreed upon price. Anyways, I hope this helps.

I don't think I had one with her either.  If you're uncomfortable with it, just type something up and send it to her.  No big deal.  :-)

    Hi Everyone,

Thank you for the great advice!  Since I tend to be a worry wart, I will put together an informal contract for peace of mind :)
