OK So here goes the last of my vendor reviews from 8-27.
Hawthorne CC- A
This place operates like a well oiled machine. I worked primarily with Ann leading up to our big day, and she was on top of everything!!! Every time I called she was right there to help me no matter what the issue was. Peter was assigned to our party and he was phenomenal. He took care of the tiniest little details that I never would have remembered and was always just a couple of steps away if we needed him. The food was good, and the wait staff was great. I would highly recommend this venue.
DJs John and Nelson Lima- A
AWESOME djs!!!! They are brothers and you can tell they have been doing this for a while. Everything went without a hitch from the MCing, to the ceremony music, to the reception. They kept the dancefloor packed until 1am and were very responsive to requests etc. I would definately recommend.
James Murphy Photography- B
I thought long and hard about this one. James and Tana are a great team and are very easy to work with. We had our e-pic session done back in June and that went extremely well. I loved the pics we got back and felt as if they really captured the feelings of the moment. I was sooo excited about having them do our wedding after this session. I hate this review because I don't want to come across as bashing them, but I do feel it is important to be honest and express my dissapointment. The day of the wedding went great actually. They seemed to be busily working in the background and never seemed overbearing or in the way. We got our pics back quickley- within a week which was great. However, there were TONS of "duplicate" pics of the ceremony. I feel like I am looking at the same pic over and over again with only tiny changes to each photo. The formal pics are nice but many are really far away and seem very rushed. The reason I fell in love with James Murphy and booked them was for there non-traditional style. However, almost all of my pics are very "formal" poses with no creativity behind them. I also included 3 pics that I definately wanted taken in the pre-wedding questionare they sent me, and only 1 was taken (and not even really the same photo-but on the same idea, so fine).
I also figured that with 2 shooters, I would get many more pics of different aspects of the reception....that didn't happen and they seemed to be side by side all night. I got a total of 600 photos back, which seems extremely low since we had them for 8 hours.
I waited a couple of weeks to do this review, to let the disappointment subside a bit. In hindsight, I wish I would have been more excplicit on the day of about what my expectations were. I would still reccomend them, because they are great photographers and are pleasureable to work with. However, my advice would to be to make sure you clearly outline ANY and EVERY shot you would like taken and be ready to remind them the day of.
Sara Faella- A
