Cost of alterations

A few people asked last week about the cost of alterations.  To get my dress hemmed in the front, the sides taken in, and a 3 point French bustle, it took 7 hours and cost 42.50 an hour.  I have no idea how that compares to other places, but I was really pleased with the results, so for me it was definitely a good deal. I actually love the bustle so much I almost want to have it bustled the whole time!

That seems kinda high to me. I'm getting mine done at Classy Concepts, and I have a heavily beaded gown, and just paid less than $200 to have the waist and bust taken in, and the straps shortened (the straps also have beaded detail). The bustle will be done later (will have at least a 3 point bustle), but I think that's another $40 (I could be remembering wrong though... maybe it's $60?). These alterations would be less expensive if the dress wasn't all lace and beads though.
