Start with a budget. How much do you want to spend on the wedding as a whole? From there, decide what's most important to you. For example, is your venue more important than the food? Then budget accordingly.

If you don't have a date, set one. The knot has a good checklist (that I don't follow perfectly) that's a good start.

Definitely set a budget before you make any decisions. (Don't even start looking at venues, dresses, etc before you decide how much you're going to spend. You don't want to fall in love with something you can't afford!)

After that, start looking at venues and pick a date. There are so many wonderful venues in the Austin area.

Next, look at tons of real wedding photos and inspiration boards to figure out what look you're going for. There are a million and one beautiful wedding ideas, but you need to find a "theme" that fits you best so you can streamline your planning and not be distracted by every pretty thing you see. (By theme I simply mean colors, formal/informal, etc.)

Happy planning. This board is a great resource!

    CONGRATS!
I second what was said above....budget budget budget! :) I started with a budget and then I picked my colors. Now I'm just rolling right along! The venue is done, the caterer is done, the photographer is done....it's not so hard after you get all of the money situated. Also, USE THE BOARDS! This board is a life saver for me, you get hairstylist recs, photog recs.....just about anything you can think of someone has used or is going to use at their wedding! Dont be shy about posting questions or asking for ideas! :)

    HAPPY PLANNING! :)

Congrats. This board will be of great value. It has for me. I agree know your budget and find a venue first!

Congrats! It's so exciting planning! Definately have your budget figured out before you meet with any vendors or make any decisions. Start looking through magazines for ideas, too.
