Invitations

My wedding is in October and I've started thinking about invitations. I'm trying to decide between DIY or buying them already made. I don't want to spend a ton of money on them but I want them to look nice. I know places like target & michaels have the DIY kits and there's websites like cardsandpockets.com but I was wondering if anybody got their invitations locally. If so what was the price range per invitation? I need about 100 invitations.

Basically, any recommendations of invitation places in Austin?

I'll also gladly accept any DIY advice :)

Thanks!!

I originally went to the paper place (i think that's really the name) on Lamar/38 1/2 street and they were very helpful and very affordable.  They had lots of options and would help you design your own, which was MUCH cheaper than ordering from the fancy books.  : )  I ended up ordering from Etsy.com (letterpresslight), just because I was lazy and wasn't feeling creative enough to help design my own invitations, which I know is terrible.  They ended up being $4.00 a piece, which was more than I would have spent if I had stuck with the paper place.  They were about $3/ea.  If you go there, go during the week if possible, they are pretty busy on the weekends.  That said, I do love my invitations and have gotten lots of compliments on them.   Hope that helps!

I ordered mine from weddingpaperdivas.com -  you can get samples mailed to you beforehand (for $1 each). I really liked that they offered recycled paper that was nice quality. Our wedding is a bit more informal, so I don't know if they would work for a formal do, but I'm really happy with ours and the customer service was great about answering questions. I think we paid around $1.40 per, but the price goes down the more you order. I also looked at a couple of places in town and even though they weren't outrageous (maybe about $3 per), we're really trying to keep our budget in check, so I liked this option. I'm also not super-duper picky and wanted something that was fun and reflected our "garden party" theme, so they fit the bill.
