Where did you purchase your invitations

I ordered my dress and I booked my venue! Now I need invitations. I'm not looking for anything fancy and I don't want to spend anymore than $300 for 80 invites with response cards. Anyone have any recommendations on where to purchase affordable invitations?

I bought mine at Micheals. Super cheap, about 30 dollars for 20 invitations I think. And Micheals constantly has coupons in the paper.

I used Mew Paper Arts (mewpaperarts.com)  I was able to work with Alissa to customize the invites I wanted and they were super affordable...that was last summer, but I'm sure she's still reasonable..she totally works within your budget to make things work.  I had a fabulous experience and used her for wedding party gifts and have purchased cards for myself since then, too.

I had mine custom designed on Etsy and then printed locally. (I had the RSVPs and inserts printed via Vistaprint's "free" post cards.) For invitations, RSVP post cards and directions/map/hotel info cards it came out to less than $1/per invite. I have pictures in my bio. I am very happy with them because I wanted something unique but inexpensive. I've gotten so many compliments from my guests!

I am getting my invitations from zazzle.com. I actually designed them myself, since I couldn't find any that I liked in my price range any where else.

Etsy! Seller lucylimelight does great work, but I am sure many others do as well. Here is a few pics of my invites, but I paid under $300 for invites, 3 inserts, envelopes, ribbon, and our addresses printed on the envelopes. It was also fast, easy, and I got to see a sample before I ordered them (which you can't do with many online stores). Good luck!

I got mine at Target, and they're actually really nice.  Invites aren't a top priority for me, so I'm really satisfied with my decision.

I ordered mine from Wedding Paper Divas. We first ordered five samples and they were all beautiful. I had some questions (since it's all online) and their live chat customer service has been great AND I got recycled paper (which is important to me - but they have other paper as well). The price of invitations goes down the more you buy. I ended up getting 130 invitations for about $175. They have lots of pretty styles. We have a more informal wedding, so I'm not sure what it'd be like for a more formal affair, but I highly recommend them.

I bought a kit at Michael's and tried DIY but I couldn't quite get the design right. I only paid $40 for the graphic design of all my invite items (from Etsy like I mentioned above). When I went to print on my own Michael's paper, I couldn't get full bleed with printing at home like I wanted and the cost of ink for how many I needed printed would've been the same as using a printer. Sooo I just got them professionally printed.

Thank you all for your response. We will explore these options this weekend. I don't have a creative bone in me so I am definately not a DIY bride.

FI received a wedding invite last week and when he realized I wasn't addressed on the envelope, he just threw it away. This is why I don't want to put that much effort  and cost on invites.

kelseymw - I lke your idea with using Vistaprint for RSVP cards and hotel/directions info card. I think this will be the cheapest route to go for response cards.

I haven't ordered my invitations yet, but I picked up a couple bridal magazines at the store and there are inserts and adds for tons of different companies that do them.  They all have websites and you can request catalogs from a lot of them too.  I don't think I'm going to be able to go that route because we are inviting around 300 people and it's just going to get too expensive.  But they have some really cute ones in the catalogs!

Not sure if you found a place yet, but we went to Paper Place this weekend - a small store by Central Market. We expected it to be way out of our price range - but surprisingly they were way under our budget. We are buying the paper there, and having them design and print the invites. They are super-flexible, and we are printing a much higher number of invites, plus envelopes, reply cards and save the dates (our budget is also higher then yours - but they quoted us between $600-700 for 125 of all the above, plus some extras - like double layered paper and assembly, so I know you could get a cheaper quote).

Anyways, if you haven't found any place you like yet - I would recommend talking to them.

JudieN - We didn't get a chance to look at invitations last weekend. I've been struggling with allergies all week so nothing got done last weekend. We'll be sure to also checkout Paper Place as well. Thanks!
