Band negotiating?

How do you do it? There's a band I like that's about $3,000. But I'd like to try to negotiate something cheaper. Tips?

I have the same problemn (not being exactly direct about negotiating).   I told them that we had only budgeted $2500 for music (true), but I really liked them, but the "big bad fiance" (false) wouldn't let the music go over budget.  They told me that if I booked with in the next two days they would go to $2500 (done).  I actually did the same thing with my dress and got $500 off (it was much more expensive than I REALLY would have gone, so it wasn't really a lie and it was a sample and needed a few repairs).  That said, it's all fixed up and better than new!
Any chance you're looking at the recliners???  I saw your post a while back... they will definitely go to $2500.  : )

Yes, I'm looking at the recliners as well as another band. I am really worried that the recliners won't be upbeat enough.

Just thought I would share an update for you.... We have booked the Recliners and like you I had concerns.  My FI was sold on them (basically I think he just wanted the decision to be over more than anything), but even after we booked them, I had my questions.  HOWEVER, tonight we met with my ceremony musician and we were just talking about the rest of the wedding and when I told him that we were using The Recliners he got so excited and showed us pictures of his wedding where he also had the Recliners.  I felt so much better after talking to him, especially knowing that he was a musician himself.  He definitely said that they still get compliments on them and addressed my concerns of them keeping guests dancing.  Just wanted to share my news with you.  He also gave us a few more "hints"... if you are interested email me at jevans.atx@gmail.com
