Ceremony Music Questions

We decided we want to use country for our ceremony music, does anyone have any suggestions for specific songs?

These are a few songs that we both like but we're not sure where to use them in the ceremony (prelude, processional, recessional). We want something a little more upbeat for the recessional.

I do (cherish you) mark willis

I swear- john Michael Montgomery

Tim mcgraw and faith hill – It's your love

The dance – garth brooks

Would it be more appropriate to use instrumental versions or is it okay to use the regular version of the song?

Should the bride walk down the aisle to different music than the rest of the bridal party?

Re: Ceremony Music Questions

  • We're using a lot of country music too. I'll just list which songs we're using for each part.
    Seating of Mother's: Mama's Song-Carrie Underwood
Wedding Party processional: Canon in D
Bridal processional: Somewhere Over the Rainbow (instrumental)
Sand Ceremony: I do (Cherish You)- Mark Wills
Recessional: Forever and Ever, Amen-Randy Travis

    Father/Daughter dance: I hope you Dance-LeeAnn Womack
First Dance: Me and You-Kenny Chesney

  • My little sister walked down to the piano version of Ever Ever After by Carrie Underwood and it was super pretty.  I think the new Easton Corbin "Loving you is fun" (the chorus) or You (chris young) would be fun for the recessional.  I would work the I Do or I swear into your unity ceremony (candle, sand, etc).  I really like Clay Walker's She Likes it in the Morning (its not what you think- I promise Wink) and his I'd love to be your last for 1st dance songs. :)
  • I strongly dislike country. Unfortuantely my fiance loves it. So our music is a huge clash of country and heavy metal.

He is walking out to Tim McGraw - Better Than I Used to Be
And I'm walking to Miley Cyrus - When I Look At You.

I think its perfectly acceptable to play music with the lyrics, as long as the lyrics are appropriate to you and your guests. But, if you like instrumental better, by all means go with that!

  • I like most of your choices... except "The Dance". While I love the song itself, I do not think its sentiment is right for a wedding (and it will have everyone ugly-crying!) :P
  • If you like country, you may want to try and find this song to listen to and see if that fits the bill - "Say Yes" by Dusty Drake.

And I was wondering the same thing about the girls walking down to the same song as the bride.
