Eh... I think it's because so many girls "dream" of that day they FINALLY get that ring... so when they get it, it becomes a big status symbol. I love mine, but it suits ME, and may not suit a lot of other people. Some women are just.. catty for the sake of being catty.

Ha! I picked my ring out, helped pay for it and I love it. I could care less what it cost or where it was from. I LOVE my ring. I helped pay for it because I was making more money than FI at the time and it only seemed fair that I help contribute. I also had so much fun going with him to pick it out. He got to see me all giddy and stupid trying on different rings. It was a blast.

I picked out my e-ring with H, and it's exactly what I wanted.  I ended up with a 3/4 carat solitaire because that's what I liked best.  When I tried the 1 carat solitiaire on it looked ridiculous on me.  I'm a PE teacher, and a jeans and tee kind of girl, so it just looked awkward on me.  My bands are each 1 carat each, but they are spread out so I liked how they looked much better.  Green I think your ring is gorgeous, but on me I feel like it would look ridiculous on me.

I want to scream when I hear mine and H's friends' GF's saying "I don't really care what my e-ring looks like, as long as it's at least 2 carats."  I've heard several of them say it, and every time I ask them if they have any idea how much diamonds cost, and if they even know what a 2 carat solitaire looks like.  I asked one to guess what size mine was, and she guessed about 1 1/4 carats.  Ding dong!

Being giddy and all is all good! :) Memories to cherish forever! I honesty don;t think I would have been able to pick JUST one so it was safer the way we did it. No one likes shopping with me. I can have 30 things to try on and walk out with nothing lol

</div><div>All our rings are from the NEX. They actually have a very nice collection. Plus the fact that H is stationed out here in Japan, we didn't really have any other choice to go. We looked out in town, but they were way too expensive and not as nice as the ones we saw at the NEX. </div><div>
</div><div>I love my rings and they are very good quality as well. Like some stated,  it's all about the grading when it comes to diamonds, not necessarily the brand! Girls just love to be catty and envious I guess! </div>

</div><div>This is so true!!  My center diamond is 3/4 carats and people always think its so much bigger.  It just goes to show you that its usually better to go with a smaller diamond with great quality rather then a ginormous diamond with crappy quality, because looks are deceiving! And I hate girls that say stuff like that.  It shouldn't be about how big the diamond is, or really about the ring at all.  My mom's good friend for example, her now husband proposed without a ring because he couldn't really afford one at the time.  She got a band at her wedding and that was it.  To them it was about the commitment they were making to each other, not the freaking ring.  He eventually bought her an e-ring for one of the anniversary's.  ANd now they have been married for about 10 years! YAY for them lol.

My ring is 1 1/4 carats, with an additonal 1/2 in the band, but it's antique looking which is why I picked it in the first place (the picture doesn't do it justice, and displays my poorly healed broken finger). H picked out the diamond and I was shocked at how big he decided to go, I had a girl at work tell her FI that she didn't care what it looked like as long as it was bigger than mine. I only found this out because her FI asked me how big my ring was.. i was like.. Um... Why does it matter? He said (not kidding) "She wants a rock bigger than yours" I walked away in disgust. (This girl btw was my MIA BM) I don't think any couple should go into debt for a ring, or a wedding, and couples that do are ridiculous IMO.

I don't understand those girls, I get really excited for other people when they get engaged, The last thing I think to do is compare our ERings.. that seems so silly.

aww Sami, it's beautiful! Mine was a tiny one 1/4 but it meant the world to me, if it was bigger IMO it would have taken away from the detail on the band. AS for thet girls FI, I would have told him your is a 1/2 ct. naww I couldn't. If I thought the guy was ok, if not, hellz yeah I would say it.
Ouch on the broken hand. That smarted! DD broke her hand once, had to have pins and rods in her hand. Funny story, we lived in Louisiana up until she was like 10, we moved north. She had no concept of what basements were made of.

She saw her brother once punch a hole in a wall some where. So she was so mad one day because I wouldn't let her go with her friends on a school night @ 8pm (age 14) she went down to the basement where her room was, punched the wall with all she had within her!

She thought it was cheap paneling and hollow, didn't know basements were made of cinder blocks. She comes up while I was in the dining room hystarical ( which I would be too) her pinky hanging and flopping almost to her wrist, I was still pissed, I glimsed at it and said to myself damn now I have to take her to the hosp.! We went and off she went to surgery the next day.

It would have been so much cheaper to let her go that night, and we wouldn't have spent till 1am at the hosp. I didn't dare tell her that until a few years ago, we just laughed.

Like we said earlier, some girls are just envious and like to up the other. It's stupid IMO, especially when it comes to being engaged. I love being engaged more than I love my ring! But to some, it seems like the ring is more important to them. I love to look at a jewelry, but I actually don't like to wear it much. Only my rings and earrings. Anyway, since you girls are starting to share rings, here's ours!

MOB.. I'm sorry but that story is kind of hilarious... I Lol'd..

I broke my hand playing what was supposed to be a friendly game of flag football with a bunch of Marines and Navy people... It ended our Navy team losing and my breaking my middle and ring fingers in 3 different places.. Since there's not much you can do for broken fingers (or toes btw) they splinted and taped my fingers up and they will never be straight again... Oh well..

Oh Sami, don't be sorry LOL I found it amusing as well, at least after I paid the damn bills. I did ask why  she punched it and that was the story she gave me, I had to explain to her what she actually punch and she looked dumbfounded and confused LOL  so yeah I was chuckeling inside but dealing with a teen female and I being one yrs back I new better to keep that laugh inside. She had done many goofy things like that LOL This wan't the funniest but close.

The only reason you guys lost was they played "dirty" and took the best out with a broken finger! <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" />

this is mine with a very crappy picture. the center stone is about 1/3 carat only and then has the halo of diamonds around and the band of diamonds. The band itself is just all the little diamonds, very thin and slides underneath the center halo. I love it and it was so well priced. Actually my wedding band cost lost than FI's.

Sami- WOW.. that guy should have read that as a sign to RUN.. who wants to marry someone like that?!?!!?
Mine's a 1.1 on a tiffany signature setting.. i think that is similar to a leo? Not sure..  I'm SUCH a plain jane lady... haha.. Mine is NOT exciting, but I love it :) I have always known that this was the ring I wanted because I am... kind of a little kid, running around all over the place and bumping into things.. my nails can never be long because they just ... break nonstop. So I knew I wouldn't be able to handle something big and heavy on my finger, since I don't wear any arm/hand jewelry or it breaks. (Also why he decided to get platinum.... because I would destory gold  />_< I really shouldn't have nice things haha)

I love Nex/Bx/Px jewelry :P Every time I'm there I have to check it out. my guy friend just bought his girlfriends engagement ring from there (looks just like mine only the round cut) and it's soooo pretty :) ack I love looking at people's rings!

Ggirl yours is beautiful and because it's got the halo around it I would have totally guessed way bigger!
Alice and Les- WOW.. that's just sad.. but pretty funny. How did that make her hubby feel!?!? Why do women not consider this!?!?

yup. I'm a plain jane lady haha
Greeneke I'm so glad you started this post so I can see everyone's pretty sparkly rings :) I agree with mobs window shopping comment! haha

I love seeing everyone's rings.  They are all gorgeous!  Rings are one of my favorite things to see of everyone's.  Not because they matter or to compare, but I think rings are one think that you can absolutely love other rings, but without loving yours any less.

My e-ring is a solitaire too, which is kinda hard to tell with the bands sometimes, but it was exactly what I wanted.  I also get sooo many compliments on it, and so many people tell me how much they love solitaires and what a classic look it is.

Crown- LOL that's awesome.. whatever we all say things and then go "hmm... maybe that wasn't the best" later but I probably would have said the same thing!  :P Calling a girls e-ring "cute" is like calling a guy's truck "cute" haha!

dnbeach- Did you have yours soldered? I plan on getting different bands of one colored stone so that I can switch it out depending on my mood. (this will obviously take a while, since bands of any stone aren't super cheap hah) I totally agree with you! I love oohing and awing over other people's rings and engagements, but I never love mine less :) Well put!

greeneke- hah yeah but it's not like you look at it and know immediately "omg that's a tiff ring" so it's not really a big deal. Don't get me wrong, I won't complain, I LOVE my ring. Ultimately the FI chose from there because 1. it was a dream ring of mine, 2. the quality was the best investment (we're super math/science nerds so we think about equity of everything lol) and 3. They had the thinnest platinum band we could find (which is what I wanted).
I tease him all the time for calling it an "investment" and "equity"... soo romantic ;)
