All furbabies have met now (PIP)

Joe surprised me again last night and brought over the 2nd cat, Princess, to meet my Maxy.  Princess is only 5lbs (sure doesn't look it - I didn't get any pictures of her walking around - she's really long, but really thin - the vet said she's a dwarf cat).  This meeting didn't go as well as it did with Prince, but we kind of figured it wouldn't go as well.  There was no biting, no scratching and most importantly, no blood.  Since Princess is smaller than Prince, it's easier for her to hide. She likes to hiss (Joe said she does this at home all the time - she likes to show everyone who's boss, but never bites or scratches).  Maxy just wanted to play - she was taken a back a little by the hissing, but it didn't stop her from trying to play.

Princess is not a cuddler...so Joe was taking advantage of a rare moment

a few minutes later, Princess discovered the perfect hiding place - under the lazy boy, and she stayed there the rest of the night...Maxy was NOT happy that Princess wouldn't come out to play

That doesn't sound too bad for a first meeting. Maxy sounds so cute! She just wants a buddy to play with.

We are working on the same thing here. It has been 6 months or so and they still aren't use to one another. Hopefully they will learn quicker once they are together 24/7

That doesn't sound like it went too bad, Angie!  Hopefully a few more visits and she'll learn to tolerate Maxy.  lol

Yay! Glad it went fairly well. I love that Joe's cats are named Prince and Princess - I think it's cute when pet names go together (kids names, like Tyler and Taylor in the same family, are not cute when they go together). Oh, and I'm jealous of the 'dwarf' cat. I would love a cat that would stay tiny forever haha.

Thanks all. Yeah, I'm pretty happy that Maxy reacted so well.  I can handle Princess hiding under the lazy boy, I just hope she never figures out the couch - that would be a lot harder to get her out from under when we need to leave (Maxy stays in the guest bathroom when I'm gone - she's got lots of room to move around, but mostly, from the dirt on the wall, it looks like she just sleeps the entire time, and we're planning to let the cats stay in the master bedroom/bathroom connection so that the cats aren't teasing Maxy while we're gone).

I'm really hoping that once they're living together, they'll learn to love each other and play all the time or they'll just say "eh, don't care" and just stay away from each other...these meetings give me hope that there won't be any major fights.

No biting, no scratching, and no blood sounds like a success to me.  It took forever for my cat to accept my dog when I got him, but now they're great friends.

In my experience, at least, you're most likely going to get the latter. And that's just fine, too. My dog is constantly suspicious of the cats (espeically now that she's going deaf) and the cats have a love/hate relationship: sometimes they're sweet and groom each other, othertimes they can be downright mean to each other. Nobody fights, but they aren't best friends, either.
