New accountability

Even though Insanity is done, I still need accountability. I only managed one run on vacation (in beautiful, rainy, cold Prague), but I thought a lot about what's next for me. I plan on running the PF Chang's Rock'n'Roll half marathon here in Phoenix in January, and may do another half in February.

The big goal, however, is a full marathon in April. Since I know we want to start trying to get pregnant next summer, I want to get the marathon in before that. I'm going to go work on my calendar to see how I can fit it all in. For example, I do NOT want to have to do an 18 mile run the morning of my wedding! :)

Today, I woke up at 2:30 am. I laid in bed for two hours, then got up, went for a 2.5 mile run and did the 30-minute Insane Abs. So I feel like I'm starting the day off well. How are you all doing with your fitness goals?

ETA: I managed to gain ZERO pounds on vacation! While I only did one run, we did a LOT of walking, so I think that balanced out all the beer, wine and food!

Congratulations on the zero weight gain for vacation! That's quite the feat! :)

I'm only just now slowly starting to run... I've had problems with plantar faschiitis (it killed my attempt to work up to running a half marathon). I hadn't done any running in over a year. And I'm worried it'll start bothering me again. :( I love running. Make sure you train appropriately for it!

<div>My FI had problems with PF as well. He has a Strasberg (sp?) sock that he said has made a HUGE difference. Sometimes he wears it to bed at night. It looks like this:</div><div>

Wow that's awesome that you didn't gain at all on vacation!  I always think I'm doing ok when I go away because of all the walking & yet I still come back a couple pounds heavier.  GREAT JOB!!!!

I started Jillian Michaels' Six Week 6-Pack DVD on Monday & did it again last night so I'm pretty proud of myself for sticking with it even if it has only been 2 days.  I'm taking tonight off because 1) I'm soooooooo sore from days 1 & 2 & 2) I have a doctor's appointment that's about an hour away so I won't get home tonight until around 8pm.

I've seen those... I sleep so poorly I feel like it'd probably make it worse. :(

I wear a little arch sleeve doohickey thing on my right foot when I'm working out for extra arch support. And I bought all new shoes last year. I just don't enjoy any activity as much as running... so I'm trying to stretch, ice, and do some strengthening activities while I'm (crazy slowly) starting to try to pick up running again.

And my boyfriend has already freaked out that I've started running again (let's just say that the plantar fasciitis got so bad that occassionally I would gasp aloud in extreme pain, cough). So if I bring home a new foot contraption, he might well have a heart attack even if my feet aren't bothering me like they used to.

    CONGRATS on a zero-gain vacation!!! I think that's a world record or something. :)

I'm going to live vicariously through you for awhile. I was planning a 10 miler in January just to stay in reasonable shape through the winter, then a half in the spring and full in the fall. Until I broke my foot. It's been 5 weeks and I've got at least 4 but possibly as much as 6 more before I get the cast off. Then no running for another few weeks. Sooooo...

(I'm on Weight Watchers - again - and am basically going to try to maintain my weight while I'm stuck on crutches - though I do have some tricks up my sleeve to burn some calories.)

PLEASE PLEASE share your running exploits! Awesome runs, beautiful views, feel great days - whatever. Just post them. Smile

Yay for zero weight gain! I don't think I've ever gone on vacation and not gained weight, lol. I wish I could have gone with you, rainy and all, lol. A vacation would be awesome right now. I'm so happy you had a good trip though! I think you are insane and awesome for running a full marathon. I couldn't even imagine that, lol. There's no way I'd be up for an 18 mile run on my wedding day either, btw, lol. The only benefit to that is that you can have all the food, cake, and wine that you want with no worries, lol.
