Designing wedding sets

My boyfriend and I are planning our engagement and all. We want to design our own rings but unfortunately everytime I look up things to design my engagement ring/wedding ring, I come up with diamonds diamonds diamonds. We've talked about it and neither of us are cool with the traditional diamond thing. We want rubies and opals in our set.

Does ANYONE know a custom designer or some thing where I can design my engagement/wedding set and his wedding ring WITHOUT being forced into a diamond?

I used Joseph Schubach (referred by another knottie) to design mine.  I don't have a single diamond in my ring.  They did a great job and their prices were reasonable.

Try looking for local jewelers around your area.  Many can help you design just the settings.  Diamonds aren't mandatory at most places.

I agree with Audgie to find a local jeweler. The place I went got me Lannyte but also had Moissanite or gemstones. It really shouldn't matter to swap in a different stone of the same size and cut.
