Curious about... ring sizes.

For all the ladies who already have a ring or have had their ring finger sized...

What size are you?

The reason that I ask is because FI asked me and I told him 6 1/4 or 6 1/2... as my ring from my exH was a 6 1/4.   He got a ring that was already a 6 3/4 and the guy told him to go ahead and have me try it because you never know.

Well, it was a bit big (like fit my middle finger) so I took it to be sized.  Turns out my finger is a 5 1/4 to 5 1/2... we went with the 5 1/2 because I tend to gain a few pounds and notice a little swelling at that time of the month or if I OD on sodium.  I guess I'm still surprised that it's so much smaller than I thought and I don't think my fingers would have shrunk as I haven't lost weight or anything.

It might be different if it was really cold in the room, or if the band widths were significantly different.

The ring I have now is a 7 and turns a bit, but in some rings I wear a 6.
My finger where the ring sits is very skinny, but I have big knuckles so the ring has to be bigger to get over them and then it doesn't fit snugly when it's in place.

I have tiny fingers - I'm a 4 1/2 and my rings still spin on my fingers but if I get it sized any smaller they won't fit over my knuckles

    I was sized at a 6 1/4.

I wear a 7.  All of my rings feel tight during the summer and lose enough to spin during the winter.  Also, if I'm dehydrated, my fingers swell up.

Well then...I have fat fingers.  I'm a size 9.  I could probably go a little smaller but right now it sits nicely, doesn't move (too much) and when my hands swell it's not stuck.  Also, I wanted to make sure that when I put the band on my finger, the ring wouldn't be too tight sitting above it.  I tried on one of my other rings to check it the other day..perfect!

    Damn chubby fingers!haha

I was expecting me to be a size 9 or so..but I was shocked that I am only a size 7.5. My fingers arent slender by any means and I have big knuckles like my mom and that helps me feel better my ring is never sliding off ;)

I just re-sized mine to a 7 1/4.  I think that may be too small, at least for this sauna weather we've been having lately. I can just *barely* get it off when I'm outside in the hot weather.  The problem is that my fingers change up to a size depending on weather, water rentention, etc.

A full ring size is a significant change.  I lost 40+ lbs, and my ring needed to go down a full size and a half.  How thick was the band on your previous ring?  For me, thicker bands need to be larger than super thin bands.

I told FI I was a 5 1/2 since that's what my promise ring was. My e ring was originally a 6 and when I went to get it sized, the 5 1/2 was too big so my uncle actually made it into a 4 3/4.

Funny thing about it, my right hand ring is a 6. I always thought that your fingers on the hand you write with are larger but it's not the case with me. (I'm a lefty)

My ring size is 4.25, but my e-ring is a 4.5.  Since I got it during the winter I didn't want to get it re-sized in case my fingers swelled in the summer.  I just wear one of those clear ring snuggies on it so it doesn't spin a lot.

My e-ring is a 6, it's too big and has gone flying at least once. I also have strange knuckelless hands. I can also get that ring on all my other fingers. Including my thumb.

Oh and it definitely varies by ring.  I had a ring that wasn't perfectly circular so the size 4 fit, but then when I tried another more circular ring, the 4 was too small.

When BF asked, I said 6.5, as it's always been. But when we went to check out rings, I was sized at 5. I was really surprised too, but enh. 's long as it fits.

My right hand ring finger is definitely a good bit bigger as my e-ring almost fit it.  Weird.

I'm like you Hetshup in that rings fit all my fingers but my pinky. My friends seem to think the thumb is a bit bizarre.

Wow, I figured I'd have fatter fingers than most.  My wrists and ankles don't fit most normal sized bracelets/anklets, and I can't get bangles over my thick hands. So I guess I just figured my fingers would be larger, too!

Mine is a 6 3/4 - I've got no real knuckles to speak of, so this fits snug without worrying about any minor hand swelling.

Mine was an 8 I believe....maybe an 8.5.  I'm having a brain fart right now.  My right hand is definitely bigger...I can get my e-ring on it but its realllllly tight.   The problem is that Greek Orthodox's are supposed to wear their wedding bands and e-rings on their right hands.  Most people these days don't, but during the ceremony we have to put the wedding bands on our right hands, and then I'll switch it over after the ceremony.  I'm so nervous that my wedding ring won't fit on my finger during the ceremony and FI will have to work to get it on.  Irrational fear?  You bet.
