serendipity and our venue (PIP)

Please excuse any spelling errors because I am KUI (yes it's friday and I am home drinking wine with FI and working on wedding things. I am boring I don't care, lol.)

So I stated earlier about how with the change of Mike and I's date change has been odd. We originally chose the 8th of April because it was near our anniversary and we're even number people and it was a Friday (I have never ever wanted a Saturday wedding). We ended up with the 16th because it was the only place a venue that we liked was open.

As i said before in another post we've since found out that April 16 is a very serendipitous day. Mike's grandpa and grandma's 54 anniversary and his great grand parents 72 anniversary is April 16. They will both be in attendance (God willing) so that is obviously a great day for us. I found out today it's also my step-mom's birthday.

We decided two weeks ago that our theme would be Asian centered because our house is and I'm Buddhist - then we found out 2 days ago that our new venue hosts the international Butterfly Festival and this year it is Japanese butterflies - with our reception being held in the Bonsai room. It's all just fitting together so much I feel like it;s some sort of fated accident. It's making me even more excited for the wedding.

Anyone else have any serendipitous moments related to the wedding or anything else?

This is our new venue by the way it's very different....  I'm just linking bc I'm lazy.

That is so amazing, I LOVE the venue!! It's neat when things like that happen!  Nothing has happened like that yet for us, as we planned to have it on my Grandparents wedding anniversary, it will be their 61st when we get married.  Mamaw was just saying today how much she loves that we are getting married on their day.

So glad everything is working out for you!!

This is the third post in a row I opened that the OP said they were KUI. Kinda funny.

The venue looks really nice. It reminds me a lot of a building here at the Como Zoo.

ETA - This link would be better - http://www.comozooconservatory.org/host/#/weddings

I think its the glass construction look of the buildings that make me think of the resemblance.

Ooh - I love butterflies!  So glad it's all working so well for you guys.  I love it when things just start falling into place or go so easily with the wedding plans.

That day is turning into like the best day ever. Tafft, I assume your parents are still together, so I love it even more. It's showing me that not all couples end up divorced! (which happens in my family a lot).

I hope it is some kind of fated day, I usually don't buy into it all, but it's just all so coincidental. I'm glad everyone likes the venue - I was a bit nervous about it and especially since Mike and I have never seen it in person *ducks head in shame*. They have a japanese orchid room and those were my flowers so I am officially sold that this date is meant to be.

Loop - thanks for the link because while I was KUI I could not even spell MN to try and look it up. Google wasn't even helping me. I love that place! I love the architecture and it just looks gorgeous. I wanna switch. lol.

I didn't want to get into it..but they were married until my mom passed away 5 years ago. It's okay you didn't know - just didn't feel the need to include that. It wasn't exactly a good marriage..but even so I made sure that I made my mom feel special even when my dad didn't. It still is a date I remember of course after all the years especially since my mom passed away April 15th 2005 - one day before their 45th wedding anniversary. I think its great that you have a day that signifies so much and wish you the best :)

NO! No more switching! Although I am very familiar with the area and can be your local wedding planner. I suppose going out of state may be a way to get away from the hot mess you are dealing with. However, if you go to a different state it may create  worse hot messes than you are already dealing with. Yes, that building is pretty though.

Yeah, I'm definitely starting to get excited.  Thankfully most of the "major" things are done, it's really down to "details" for the most part.  Now that the invitations are put together, it really seems real.  We are addressing and stuffing envelopes, probably on Dec 19, we're ordering the cake this coming Tuesday (Joe can't be there, but we've talked a lot about what we want and he has confidence that I'll make a good choice)...and he's moving in on Dec 12.  I saw my countdown today and it said 105 days - wow.  We're getting so close<img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />

OOH Ang - It is giving me butterflies just thinking about the wedding. :) So are you sending out your invities in December? I am not sure when to stuff and send. I was thinking they go out the first of March... or should it be sooner? I should know these things but right now I'm just all over the place. I wanna see your dress :)

Tafft - I am so sorry about your mom and i didn't mean to bring up any sad feelings. I know that it would be hard for me and I think you're amazing for making sure your Mom always felt loved. I'm sure she is watching over you every day.

Loop - I won't change anymore - unless you WANT to plan everything while I stay in Ohio. I'll give you a check and you just get to work. Haha. Hot messes seem to be a way of life. I think we're going to run this whole thing by the parents tonight. :::Bro and GF are in town and still haven't spoken to Mike::: I feel a little sick.

We're mailing the invites out on January 3 and the RSVP date will be Feb 14 - that gives us a week and a half or so to track down any slackers before we need to have our final count into the venue.  December just gets so crazy - that's one reason we decided to put them together so early and the dates are just filling up for the rest of December, so we just picked an "open" date and we'll invite people over to help address and stuff - if no one can make it, we'll just do it ourselves, no biggie.
