Anyone eloping or having destination wedding?

I forget - is anyone on our humble board eloping or having a destination wedding? The BSC-ness of my family became blatantly obvious when even my 80 year old grandma doesn't want all of us in one room for her birthday. If she's smart enough to avoid it...

Yep, she's going to Colorado. In the fall, I think? It's in the works.

Holy cow! Last I remember she was debating midwest versus Louisiana! I never heard a peep about Colorado. That'll teach me to miss a week or so.

I'd like to have a DW, even a mini-one on the East Coast. Unfortunately, most of our guest list is made up of our poor grad school friends who probably couldn't afford the trip.  Boo.

Yeah, she's gonna elope... sorta. Run away and get married, yes, have the cool wedding parts too? Yes. We have a tentative knottie dress shopping trip in the works. We shall see.

As for Jeter, she decided this what, the end of last week? Monday? It's a pretty recent development, so don't feel too bad about missing it.

I know Kat! Seems like ages. So much going on with the move... kept me busy. Anything new on your end? New check marks? How's it going with his mom?

It is, but I'm trying not to get too excited about it...considering the lack of ring, and date. ;-) Like I said, it sounds insane that we have this all planned out with no real timeframe.

My family is less than thrilled by the idea... but a traditional wedding is just really not something either of us are interested in. I think it's just the Thailand part that scares them, since it's so far out of their comfort zone... but I have some time to get them on board.

I don't think it sounds insane. Sounds like you communicate well and are just waiting for the right time to get engaged.

I'm sure your parents will come around! Mine, however, wouldn't, so... Thailand looks good to me! Maybe Australia? My mom doesn't fly. Ever. It's a thought!

I'd prefer to elope, but I know my parents would be pretty hurt about that...so possibly a DW with just our immediate families.

Of course, it's still far off in the future for me.

I guess we're technically having a destination wedding, given that about 80% of our guests will have to travel to get there (we're having it where we live now, versus one of our hometowns). I haven't heard any complaints though...we're getting a lot of "yay, we can turn it into a vacation to Disneyworld/Key West/Miami/etc.!".

Yes!! It's true - we did make the decision to "elope" to Colorado!!  I posted pictures some where on here of where we are planning on doing it.  Planning an October elopment - just the 2 of us!  I'm soooo happy and excited that we decided to do this..
