Labor day weekend!

So, what'd you girls do? 

We went to do our open water certification!  Our first dive was 40 min long and our second was 50 min long.  And there were fish!  Sure, just lake fish, but it was cool.

Unfortunately, we had to wait out like 3 hours before our third dive and being as smooth as I am...I got sick   I think I was dehydrated (possibly due to some meds I'm on, so I need to watch that next time) but I couldn't even get the reg to stay in my mouth without feeling like I was going to heave.  We're going back in October to finish up certification, but do any scuba divers have any tips?  It was in a lake, so I doubt it was motion sickness.  One of the dive masters asked if I was pregnant, and I think that's a statistical improbability as no sex = no babies (I am a bio teacher, ya know...)

It sucks - I wanted my C-card!

In wedding related news, I realize that as much as I hate people asking me when we're getting married...I totally bug my best friend about when she's getting married all the time.  I need to stop doing that.  But I REALLY thought this weekend was the weekend (so he has a few more hours to propose to make me right, hopefully)

I'm not a diver (but I'm totally jealous and wish I could be!) so I have no tips.  But I think it's awesome that you're getting certified!

I spent all weekend getting rained on, so nothing too exciting here.

Did you feel sick in the water or on the boat (or both)? And did you eat anything between dives?

It was a shore dive in the lake - I felt sick in the water.  We had been pre-dive briefing for awhile and I called off the dive because I wasn't sure I'd even make it to 5 feet without being sick.

And I ate a PB&J sandwich and some honey roasted peanuts.  I probably didn't drink as much water as I should have BETWEEN dives, though.

That sucks about not getting certified

I've never done that before, it scares me, but I'm super jealous of everyone who does it!! 

I went to dinner & drank too much wine on Friday with some girlfriends, then FI & I headed down the shore late that night.  Saturday we were lazy.  Then we went to dinner with my mom, grandmom, & aunt.  Sunday we spent the whole day on the boardwalk getting on the rides, eating, & playing games!   I came home with an Eagles beach chair, a Eagles stuffed animal, & those under-eye stickers with the Eagles symbol on them (think I like the Eagles?).  Yesterday, my mom & I spent the whole day online searching for venues.  I was sick of it by the end of the day LOL Overall it was a really, really nice weekend but I'm kind of sad summer is over

I'm pretty sure I only got to 31 feet on my deepest dive ;)  And no alcohol the day before.  I'm going with dehydration and hydrating the hell outta myself next time :)

I would definitely make sure you're drinking lots of water. If it was hot and you were out in the sun for several hours, just because you're in the water doesn't mean you're hydrated.  No fun not feeling well. I actually got super dizzy once on my dive--it might have been a combination of nitrogen nacrosis and the fact that I was looking at a platform that was SPINNING.  Bleh!

Yea, I felt like an idiot cause I couldn't get my regulator in my mouth without gagging, lol.  I was done for.  BUT I'm going to be certified in October, so where should we dive next? :)
