Not Engaged Yet

Everyone's Hatching Babies!

Okay, so a few months ago it seemed like everyone I knew was getting married or getting engaged. Now it seems like everyone's having babies!!!Not the same people, though.Anyway. So, an online friend of mine had a gorgeous baby girl in May, my best childhood friend just posted pictures on Facebook of her brand-new son, and my only local friend (yeah, yeah, I'm a pitiful person) is expecting a little girl in October. Not to mention all the acquaintances and friends-of-friends who are also expecting. Is it just me, or did this all happen once before... like.... 5 or 6 years ago... when all my friends who were too young to get married (or knocked up) did so anyway... and then subsequently got divorces and had nasty custody battles? Now it seems my more stable friends are getting into the game. And here I am. My coworker asked me today when BF and I are getting married."Sometime after we get engaged" I said. Some random old guy asked me the same question after I'd known him for like 5 minutes on Saturday. WTF?

First of all, I love your response to "when are you getting married?" and I will absolutely be using that. :-)Anyway, about 10 months ago my friends started getting pregnant and it seems like it's been non stop ever since, I can't remember the last time I went a week without hearing about someone new expecting. I think maybe we're about the same age because 5 or 6 years ago, which was pretty much right after high school there was a wave of this as well.

I'm waiting for some of my friends to start getting pregnant since most of them are either married or are in stable relationships but sadly nothing yet - I'm a sucker for kids but I think we will have to wait a couple years before we can start having kids : (I knew a few people right out of high school that got preggers but I've fallen out of touch with them which was about 5-6 years ago tooAnd I love your 'when are you getting married?' response

Rachel- beware! When your friends start having babies it'll make you wish you had your own.... assuming you want them someday. It happens every time to me. "Ohh, new baby! How beautiful and perfect and dammit when do I get to do this?"Of course, having waited this long without getting married and popping out babies, I have gone from "Most likely to be abducted by aliens" in my high school yearbook to "The one who knows exactly what she wants in life and is really living it to its fullest without tying herself down."I am NOT joking. That's what aforementioned childhood friend said, AND another friend from high school who recently emailed me out of the blue to catch up. And as far as I know, they didn't plan to say pretty much the same thing.

Just to clarify my train of thought: to me, their description of me sounds like a euphemism for "Dang, you're so bossy and stubborn... I guess if you're not married by now you must WANT to be an old spinster."

Not to thread-jack, but if I hadn't met bf, I would have continued my plans of being a crazy old cat lady. But spinster sounds so much more refined... In other news, the idea of having babies fills me with a terrible terrible fear. I think I'm broken :(

I'm still too young for everyone to be popping out babies. Nope, for me it's still everyone I know is getting engaged. My roommate used to joke that anytime I came home for a weekend, I'd go back to school with news that someone else I know is engaged. It's tiring! And also means that a couple years from now will be the first wave of babies.
He pretty much had me at "hello".

Some of my friends got an early start on the baby making and decided it was a good idea to begin in high school. Ever since it seems like I always know someone who is pregnant. Currently the trend is to post pictures of their stomachs as they get bigger....it wouldn't be so bad if they would keep their shirts down.

I know Jeana - I do want to have kids so I am worried that once they start I'm going to want one too. But our situations as they are right now I would *hope* that we can agree to wait a little while until we are settled and feel we are financially stable enough to have children.

My friends are backwards.LOL. Most had kids after college(22-24) and are now getting married at 28 and up. I have neither, but I have been wanting a baby lately. So it may be an age thing. But I don't push it away. Up until a yr ago, kids weren't on my radar until the age of 30, so I got a 2 yr headstart.lol

I don't have any friends pregnant (of which I am currently aware). However, a friend of a friend's wife is preggers, as is NQSIL's sister, and BF's sister gave birth not too long ago to a beautiful little angel. There have, however, been several girls I graduated with who have gotten pregnant and gave birth within the last five years. I think the last time anyone sat down and count, we had finally reached double digits in terms of children (thanks to a set of twins). Twinkie757: I know what you mean re: shirts down. I think the human body is beautiful, but there are only so many shots of a pregnant side tummy one can take. :O

My friends are in the house buying wave right now. Babies should be following soon in the next 2-3 years.

Everytime I hold my goddaughter I want to have a child.  My godson is due in less than a month, so I'm sure that'll help a lot!  :heavy sarcasm::
