Wedding Vows & Ceremony Discussions

no alcohol allowed at our venue, any ideas?

We are having our ceremony and reception at a beautiful park.

But they don't allow alcohol, any ideas? Is this a huge negative?

  • Just have a dry wedding with lots of great non-alcoholic beverage options.

It depends on whether or not you want to serve alcohol :-)

For me, yes, it would have been a huge negative and I wouldn't have even considered a venue where I couldn't serve alcohol. For others, it's not a big deal. Really, it's up to you whether you care or not. Since your post implies you've already chosen the site, I gather you don't care.
  • For me, that wouldn't have worked.

We looked at a place that seemed to be our DREAM venue.. the only problem was they didn't allow alcohol under any circumstances.  We had to nix it because our view of what we wanted our wedding to be like definitely included a party!
  • I have a pretty hard-drinking crowd on my hands so it definitely wouldn't have worked for me.

It depends on you, your friends and family. If you believe it truly isn't an issue, then go forward and enjoy!

  • If you don't mind having a dry wedding, then there really isn't an issue. You can have lots of yummy non-alcoholic drinks like juices, flavored lemonade, you could even have a smoothie or coffee bar, etc. The list goes on and on.

If you are set on having alcohol, then you'll need to find a different venue.

    This.

    Water, sodas, fancy mocktails, teas...
  • Agreed with all... it's really depend on you, your family and friends.
  • What time of day is your wedding?

I dont think its so much as people can't survive with out a drink, more as they will not stay as long. It's really what you want it to be.

If you have an earlier ceremony it may not even be an issue at all. With many afternoon weddings, people aren't in the drinking mood anyway.
  • If you are set on the park but also want a party maybe have an after party at a local bar.

I would have choosen a different venue but that is based on our friends, family, and our idea of our wedding. We def want a party and feel like the alcohol is a large part of that.It keeps people around and dancing and socializing
