I'm going crazy deciding which vender to choose my diamond from

It's between an Infinity and Union diamond.  They are both idea cut, Infinity is suppose to be only the best cuts in the world, but the diamond I can get from Union is ideal AGS0 and much bigger for the same price.  (1.2 vs. 1.04). I don't even know if I will notice the difference, but if the Infinity diamond is much sparkier, than I'd go for smaller. But living in Norway I can't really look at them and compare! I am debating purchasing both and having them sent to a friend to compare,  and then returning one but that seems like too much of a hassle.  I'm leaning on getting the Union one I think.  Sometimes I think these signature cuts, and best of the best is a marketing scam to increase the price of the diamond.  But then maybe it isn't I don't know?

I have no idea but you've been scoping out rings forever now you must be an expert.  Have you tried asking on pricescope?  It's a forum ALL about diamonds.  Good luck.

I think the "signature" cuts are indeed a marketing thing. Also, I think you'll pay more for something that has the reputation for being the best. Like you, I'd lean toward the Union. But, the hassle of buying both and returning one might be totally worth it; it'd give you peace of mind.

Have you considered using a different type of gem stone? emerald, tanzanite...etc??

Personally, I think you're complicating it. It's going to look beautiful. My diamond has flaws... like... ones you can see with the naked eye. I like to call them freckles. See, I have freckles. My ring has 3 freckles. Nobody in the world has noticed except me and FI... but he went for cut (which is is cut beautifully and sparkles like wow) and got a style that is very me.When you get that ring on your finger, you're not going to care about the difference. Heck, I don't even care anymore that FI got a diamond instead of Moissanite. It doesn't matter. We're getting MARRIED. It's awesome.Take a breath, chill out, and heck... tell your BF to make the decision himself. You found a gorgeous ring that you love. Let him have the final decision on the stone. Trust me, you'll stop thinking about the comparisons 5 seconds after you see the ring.

I never post on here, but my engagement ring is from Union Diamond and I have a few friends whose rings are from there as well. My fiance picked it out, but I have to say, it's absolutely perfect. I get compliments all the time. They are extremely professional and we ended up buying my fiance's band from there too. Just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents!

I think you should go with the 1.2 assuming that it is the same price as the other diamond. I have a ring that I inherited that is good symmetry and good polish (it's pretty old). Well, despite all of that, it sparkles like mad. I was really surprised at the fire and brilliance of the stone. An ideal cut will be even better. I honestly don't think you would see too much of a difference between the two stones as far a sparklyness (I know that's not a real word). As for the visual difference, yes you will notice if you compared a 1.2 and a 1.04. The 1.04 would be about 6.5 mm and the 1.2 would be about 6.9 mm (assuming you're talking about RBs).

Thanks for all the tips, I think I am going to order the ideal scope on the Union diamond, and if it is good get it. It's nice posting here in getting opinions, I try to do it on price scope but then it's mostly vendors saying that their diamond is the best.  Although I have to say, it was a great sight for learning about diamonds.

LOL noelle. Norway I'm sure you will love whatever ring you get.  My diamond has a flaw but in order to see it you have to be 0.5 inches away from it on a certain angle.   And yes I do think those signature cuts are a marketing ploy.

LOL maybe I should change my SN to indecisive girl. Sorry for my obnoxious posts.Well I have decided I will most likely go with Union diamond, unless there is something wrong with the ideal scope... The question is whether I go for the 1.2  L for 3600 ideal cut, SI1 or try to find something a bit smaller, cheaper and SI2. I agree on the freckles, I would actually like to see a small inclusion! Also my setting costs 1500, which I really like, but then again maybe I would be happy with a simple solitaire. Right now I am within my budget, of 5000, well at 5100 for the ring and diamond, but well the economy is bad, we might be going back to school, so any money we can save is a good thing.MY boyfriend, wants me to get the 1.2 and ring as he says it's worth the money for a life time purchase.

This is now the second time you've posted with this danserinnen SN.  I'm not buying the "Oops! I'm using a computer someone else logged into". Why do you have two screennames?

Sorry, Sorry. I did it again! And no I am not lying! I have to go to the  University library for work often, and while I am waiting to talk to the librarian I sit at the same computer and check the knot!  (I am working on a research project pulling old legal records that have not been electronically stored and am not allowed to access them without assistance) And that same person was still signed in! Sorry Sorry I will be more careful. I am not trying to deceive anyone.
