I'm a lurker...

Hello everyone!I have been lurking around and have finally decided to introduce myself! I'm Cheryl (aka cstasz1384) and am 25 years old (26 in Jan) and am dating the most wonderful BF. We have been getting more serious and both know that marriage is in our future (hopefully near!). Now my wedding obsession can actually take more of a personal purpose, rather than simply helping friends plan theirs! :) I am nervous about tomorrow though. Finally meeting his mother! We're all going out to dinner tomorrow evening. I am so nervous, which the BF finds very amusing. I simply remind him of this when he meets my parents hopefully in December. My family lives out of state so we have been slow in meeting each others families. I guess his mom has been wanting to meet me for awhile but he only brings it up now. LOL. Any advice/tips on meeting my hopefully future MIL?!

Hi! I don't think I really have any good advice for you though- I'm terribly shy and I hate meeting new people.  But I guess, when I met my BF's parents I just tried to be polite and smiled a lot even though I was nervous.  And definitely stay open-minded.  It's weird to meet the people who could become part of your family.  Especially if they're very different from your own family.  But hopefully you'll get along well!  Good luck!

Just be polite and follow their lead with the conversation. It's hard to give advice on someone I don't know but that's how I handled meeting my ILs and it worked out pretty well. Welcome!

Thanks for the advice ladies! Despite being late to dinner (NOT my fault!) everything went great. BF's mom did a great job of embarrassing him LOL and we got along so well! She is so straightforward but it is great. Asked me out right is I had the hots for her son! Then once we got the twenty questions game out of the way it was a great dinner. She told me she loved me and couldn't pick anyone better to be with her son! Made me and the BF very happy to hear that! :)
