Not Engaged Yet

Oh, this week...

So to sum up, this week I...
1. Burned a giant hole in our apartment's kitchen floor.
2. Found out I need new car insurance, which is more expensive than my old insurance
3. Am having lunch with my Father today, who thinks that if he ignores BF's existence long enough he will just go away

On the plus side, I got a comission check! Yay for extra money...that will go towards the kitchen floor :(

Any advice on that front? I'm trying to figure out exactly what I need to do. Should I get it replaced now or later? Is it within my rights to ask for invoices of labor and material costs before I pay the landlady?

Also, tell me happy stories from this week! BF is good at cheering me up, but I'd like some other cheeriness too :)

I would definitely ask your landlady for an official repair estimate before you fork over the cash to her.  I don't think that's unreasonable at all.  Just do it respectfully.

Happy stories?  Ummm...  I made a new friend!  That's always good!

Yep, agree with elle. Ask for an estimate.

This week I got my car all healed! This is good since I've been car-less for two frickin' weeks.

At least the whole apartment didn't burn down, right?

Elle, making new friends is always awesome!  :D

I am planning on asking for a repair estimate from her. We just got new management at my building and the new lady is terrible, especially compared to my old landlady.
I'm also considering how she'd feel about me just taking care of it, since my family is in construction. Who knows- she might let me do it. That would save me a bundle, for sure.

Polka Dot: haha for sure. That's what my mom said too :)

And excellent news on the car! Having no car is the worst!

How in the world did you burn a hole in the kitchen floor?

Yes, I would ask for estimates before paying.

    Funny story, that...

I was cooking soup in a big stockpot. The floor is linoleum. I knocked the stockpot off the stove and I was too worried about salvaging some soup, so I set the pot upright on the floor. Turns out linoleum + hot pot = big burned hole in the floor...
Yeah. I felt like an idiot.
