Not Engaged Yet

Hi!

Thought I would do an actual introduction post since I've been lurking and posting a bit these days. I'm 28, been with my BF (also 28) for just over a year now in an inconvenient distance relationship - feels like an exaggeration to call it a LDR when he is only an hour and a half away. So we go with inconvenient - we can still do the occasional weeknight concert or something but it makes the drive into work the next day a bit of a nightmare, so mainly we see each other on the weekends.

We're planning on moving in together next summer, or earlier if I can find a job where he lives. We both live on our own, and own our places so it makes the move a little more complicated since it's not like a lease I can just walk out of. We're talking about a wedding in 2013 so we can get settled in and build up some savings for the wedding.

I'm on the knot a lot since I'm a BM/MOH in three weddings next year - out of TEN total we have on the calendar - and that's how I found NEY.

A bit about me: I love to read, and I'm a runner training for my first marathon in May. To answer the important questions - I like my potatoes fried and covered in cheese and gravy (Poutine - I am from Quebec after all), I love HP and have one 7 month old pup and an old (but tiny and adorable) kitty. This is Griffin:

Thanks for having me ladies (and potentially gents)!

Hi! And welcome to NEY.  I just recently joined as well and stumbled apon NEY because I'm helping my friend plan her wedding and all that yakkity smakkity. :o)

I was part of the inconveinent relationship recently, but we finally decided to move in together so my bf didn't have to drive back and forth every night w/our dog in tow.  Granted it was only 10 minutes away, it was a PITA because HE was the one driving back and forth.

Nice to meet you and welcome again!

    Your puppy is CRAZY adorable.

But you do not slide so easy on HP. Which book is your favorite? Who is your favorite character? (And why!)

I feel like this may be an unpopular opinion but I love the Half Blood Prince. For me it was such a turning point in the story in terms of emotion and maturity. The dynamic between Dumbledore and Harry changed completely, and the scene where they go to get the fake horcrux, and of course Ds death, just kill me every time. My favourite character...that's a hard one. I don't know if I have one. I love different characters in different situations - Ginny gets great in the last few books.

I love to travel but haven't done a whole lot of it. I've been to Paris twice since the fares are pretty cheap from Montreal but that's it for Europe. In the summers I tend to be at the cottage whenever I can so that takes up a lot of my vacation days.

I love hockey - it's sort of required here. I'm a Canadiens fan obviously but I don't riot quite as much as the die-hards.

The last movie I saw was Breaking Dawn, which I actually enjoyed, mainly for the running dialogue between me and my BFF. And of course the talking wolves I'm still laughing about.

Yay another runner! I hang out on the H&F board on the nest a bit as well, we're starting a Winter challenge today on Nike+ if you're interested! I definitely won't win but need something to keep me going through the winter, since marathon training only official starts in January.

I've done a bunch of races - a handful of 5ks, three 10ks and a half-marathon last September was my last race. After the half, I figured I'm already halfway to a full and want to do one in my lifetime, so this was the best possible time. I'm terrified but also really excited - counting down the days to the race. I have another half in February as well to keep me going. What about you, have you ever done a marathon? Any advice?

I liked Half-Blood Prince a lot too... But I think I like them ALL a lot. (Though Order is probably my least favorite).

    Good answer, I approve! :P

<div>Nice!! FI & I are NJ Devils season ticket holders. We actually play the Habs next Saturday but we'll be away so we're missing it.  This is fine with me because last season about 5 bus loads of fans came down from Montreal & it was one of my least favorite hockey games ever lol.</div>

Paris is lovely. The first time I went I was younger and poor so we had to stay in a bit of a junky area, I went in September this year and we rented an apartment rather than a hotel, right in the heart of the city. It was amazing! I went with two girlfriends and all we did for a week essentially was eat amazing food (cheese, baguettes, pain au chocolat mmmm), drink wine and coffee, and people watch - with a bit of shopping thrown in. I highly recommend going if you can!

We do love a good hockey road trip, and we are probably the loudest fans in the league. I love it when we're cheering on the Habs but don't like how quickly a lot of the fans will turn on the team after the slightest mistake. BF is in Ottawa and luckily he is a Sens fan, if he was a Leafs fan we would probably not be dating, let's be honest.

The dog is distracting you and making me seem normal, just wait till I get comfortable and I'm all BAM check out my twilight themed full back tattoo!

    Just kidding...maybe.

I love my mashed potatoes with garlic involved, or with my mom's homemade gravy. I am sad to admit that I LOVE the new KD homestyle in the blue bag. It's a good thing they don't sell it in Canada because I would be eating it alllll the time.
