My boss sucks (vent)

Hey ladies!

So my day started off with the oh so lovely rainy weather.  I couldn't get back to sleep after BF went to work at 6 so I finally got up at 7 30 feeling quite blah.  I get to work only to discover there is a mall-wide fire drill and I can't enter the building.  I usually show up about half an hour early to grab some breakfast.  I ended up standing in the rain from 8:40 to 9:10.

Turns out our boss had been told by the mall that they were doing the drill, told the other employees not to show up until 9:30, but never said a word to me.  He didn't even apologize when I (rather nicely) pointed out that I would have also appreciated a phone call telling me to not come in early.

Gah.  I hate my boss.  He's always changing my shifts around without telling me too, it drives me nuts as its almost impossible to plan anything with BF.  I'm already dreading him making the (Canadian) Thanksgiving schedule, I booked off a week to fly home with BF and I just know he's going to book me that week.  When I booked time off when my family was here in August he still tried to get me to work several of the days I told him I couldn't work.

Vent over.  I'd love any additional lolcats to cheer me up that haven't been posted today!

Sorry you had a not fun day.  Boo, boss.

Can't you just tell him "I'm sorry, I have plans" when he tries to switch a shift on you?

I've tried, but so many people have left lately without giving any notice that he needs to change it.  I totally understand but he always seems to change my shifts, and not the other employees as much.  It bugs me.  He never tells me either, sometimes I show up and find out I have to work the next day when I had plans, and he isn't there so I can't do anything about it.

I might start getting more aggressive with it.  But he also seems to have no problem with getting rid of people and hiring new staff.  I've already seen him fire 3 people in the last month because he could (three month probationary period) even though any boss I've had before would have given a warning instead of having to hire someone else/get all their shifts covered.  I need the job, terrible as it is, so I don't want to make him start thinking about replacing me too.

I'm sorry your boss is crummy. Was your shift at least ok after that? I'm on my phone, sitting in French class, so I don't have any lolcats I'm afraid. :(

It was alright, he tends to just watch what we're doing and not help out as much as we'd like.  You have to make sure you constantly appear to be busy or you'll be given a really annoying task.  Mine (3 minutes before my shift ended) was to dust the lower shelves of our tv section.  Fun times! :P

Ugh, I'm so bad about being given 'busy work.' It makes me so grouchy!

Ugh, that sucks.  I know the economy sucks, but I would send my resume out to as many other places that I could.  That boss sounds like he doesn't value his employees at all :(

BUT you're awesome and we value you here.  So stick around :)
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton

Thanks :) I'm absolutely going to be looking for other jobs, this place is not where I want to be.  They pay next to nothing too, but it was all that I could get at the time so I've just stuck with it for too long.
