Eye Shadow Experts

I'm just now starting to experiment with eye shadows, I was always one of those women that just wore mascara, or a creamy colored liquid eye shadow. I've recently purchased the UD primer potion (clicky) and I love it with my Almay Smoky Trio (clicky).

I love the Almay eye shadow, but I don't want the same look every day and I feel like it's a little too intense for certain times and outfits etc. So here's what I'm looking for:

1. What are your must have eye shadows?
2. What are your favorite styles? (bonus for pics)
3. If you could only have 4 eye shadow shades, what would they be?

Liv, I'm loving your MAC colors!!  They are all in my collection (great minds think alike!)

My standard for every day is my UD primer, followed up with a think layer of MAC Paints in Stilife (just applied with a finger to the lid) for a little shimmer.  Then Blanc Type, then Coquette on the outer lid portion, then Rice Paper on the inner lid portion and to help blend it all together (blending is KEY!!).  Then I usually will do a wet brush with a small amount a Beauty Marked as a liner (can go on as thick or thin as you want, depending on the brush & your technique) just from the outer corner to about the middle of the lid.  THEN Sephora eyeliner creme waterproof liner (it comes in a tub) as a very thing line from outer corner to inner corner.  Then mascara.  It sounds like a lot but only takes me a couple minutes.  I also really like that I can use these same colors & technique to go for a heavier, smoky eye or for a lighter, more natural look.

Found this on Pinterest that may help show you different applications for different looks & eye shapes:

New Urban Decay Naked Palette just came out!

My standard is the following three MAC colors: Bronze, All that Glitters, and Vanilla. I use the Urban Decay 24/7 shadow pencil in dark brown (can't remember the name right now) in the outer corners to give a nice dark base for the bronze shadow.

I'm a fan of a light smokey eye. Either in the neutrals listed above or in a silver/black combo. I can't remember the names, but I have a light silver, dark silver-gray, and black shadows, all Mac.

Sometimes I'll mix a purple or something in there. I have a lot of eyeshadow colors, but the browns/neutrals get used the most.

I love the Urban Decay Naked palette.  I also adore MAC eyeshadows.  Naked Lunch is one of my favorites from MAC.  I also love Stila Smudge pot in Kitten.  I use it as a sort of creamy highlight shadow.

And UD Primer Potion is a must!

I freakin' LOVE UD primer potion!  I have it in both the matte and shimmery versions.

I don't wear eyeshadow every day, but I do wear eyeliner and mascara daily.  My favorite eyeliner is Green Silver by Sephora.  It looks awesome with my blue eyes.

When I wear eyeshadow, I usually use Benefit's 'Big Beautiful Eyes' palette. It's neutral pinky browns, so it's really easy for daily wear. It comes with instructions for how to apply too, in case you're not sure.
