Makeup help, please.

I think we've figured out we're going with brown as the main color for our wedding, so for my makeup I want to do a natural, earth toney kind of look, but I don't know anything about makeup. Instead of paying for it, I'm going to have my cousin do my makeup and hair, but need some ideas for good quality makeup to buy for it and I'm going to put it on my Christmas/birthday list so that's why I'm looking so early, lol.

I kinda like this look, but maybe a little lighter or possible some kind of goldish shimmer? I'm not looking for a bold look, but I normally just wear eye liner and mascera so something more than that, lol. I don't even know the different kinds of eyeliners/masceras/powders/etc. So act as if this is a Makeup for Dummies thing!



Here's what I look like with just normal eyeliner/mascera ... and blue paint from a Blue Man Group concert, lol, but it's the best pic to show my coloring, lol.

First, you are so pretty.

Second, I would get this eye shadow palette (<-clicky)! So many perfect colors for your eyes. I'd do a super dark brown almost black liner and a black mascara. Also, this blush, highighter and bronzer combo  (<-clicky) would be great with your coloring.

Also, here is a pic of the best ways to use higlighter and bronzer.



Then you blend the blush from the apples of your cheeks towards your temples.

ETA: Opps forgot the lip color. I'd go with this in liplock. (<-Clicky)

My FSIL (and one of my BM's) posted this on my facebook wall this morning with the caption "I know how we should do our makeup for the wedding".

Hmmm...

If you're going for an earthy look, here are my thoughts.

1.  You need a good foundation.  I recommend Makeup Forever HD liquid concealer.  This can be found at Sephora.  Have an artist do a color match for you.
2.  You need a good bronzer.  I recommend NARS Laguna or Tarte Park Avenue Princess.  (Both can be found at Sephora.)
3.  You need a good blush.  I recommend Tarte Amazonian Clay blush in Exposed for an earthy look.
4.  You need a good eyeshadow primer.  Get the Urban Decay eyeshadow primer.  It's awesome.
5.  For earthy toned eyeshadows, I'd buy the Naked Palette from Urban Decay. 
6.  I think you should do black eyeliner, maybe accented with a green eyeliner.  So I recommend the Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner set in Electric.  (It comes with a black eyeliner and a killer green eyeliner called Junkie.)
7.  For wedding mascara, get the Diorshow eyelash primer and then go to your local drugstore and pick up Lancome Million Lashes mascara in Carbon Black.

Also, invest in a good set of makeup brushes.  Sponge and finger application can only go so far.

I was going to say exactly what Liv said. You could also try Estee Lauder or Clinique counter at Macys/Dillards. They seem to do more earthy looks but I'm not sure about their policy on makeovers/purchasing product. Either way, get a gift certificate for Macy's in general and you can use it at whichever counter. FWIW- My friend had the MAC counter do her makeup for her wedding and it looked fantastic.

I also want to say that MAC has different looks on their website you can go through. I may be wrong though.

I like Shoes' list. However, I'll say that the Makeup Forever HD looked terrible on me, and though I got color matched twice at Sephora, it was always the wrong color.

I really like Urban Decay's Razor Sharp Finishing Powder. They also make a makeup setting spray.

I also like Ardell 110 false lashes. They made my lashes longer and thicker without looking fake. It does take some practice to feel comfortable applying them.

For makeup brushes, I like Eco-Tools. They use synthetic fibers, and you can find sets of them at Target, Walgreens, Ulta, and Amazon. I think the bristles feel just as nice as Urban Decay brushes (which I love but for the hefty price tag). The handles just aren't as nice.

It looks like a gift card is the way to go, but all your suggestions will definitely get me going in the right direction!

I've considered doing the false lashes, but only because I'm considering them for my Halloween costume. I've never tried them before, so I'll check those out and do a test run for our Halloween party and see how it goes! Thanks everyone! : )

If you're not 100% comfortable wearing false lashes, I would stay away from them.  Your wedding is not a time to experiment with crazy, uncomfortable makeup.

Agreed, I definitely don't want to be blinking like a weirdo in all my pictures/video, lol. I'm going to give them a test run on Halloween and see how I feel. I've never worn them before, so I want to try it and go from there.
