S/O: Ask the Wine Steward Wednesday

Hi Ladies,

Sop's thread reminded me of what happens a lot of times when I take Andrew places, such as when the girls caught his attention last night at the book club...people LOVE asking him questions about wine.

So if you have any questions...I'll ask him tonight. :)

For example, Do you have a particular favorite meal that you would like to pair a wine with? (If so- you might even want to provide a recipe).

What other questions would you like to ask a certified sommelier?

  • Ooh I have a question!! BF and I are having a belated Vday dinner this weekend of surf 'n' turf (specifically, marinated steak tips and cajun shrimp, probably with some rice). Also, neither of us really like red wine and are on a bit of a budget. Can he reccomend a budget friendly but nice bottle of wine that might go well with this dinner? :)

Also, on a more general note, is there a type of red wine (or a rose or something) that I might try to help me get more into red wines?
And if the stormy weather came...I'd just kiss you in the rain... Daisypath Anniversary tickers image

I'm curious about this too. I've only had one red wine so far that I liked, but I can't remember what it was now. I'm slowly branching out, but am clueless where to go next. I've found that I do like mild, but not ready for dry yet.

P.S. Still not sure about all of the terminology used for wine, so I'll need simple explanations, lol.

One of my BFF's gave me a simple red table wine and it was okay but not something I'd buy again. I don't know terminology either. Most of the (very few) reds I've tried are too...heavy?...for me since I like really crisp whites.

<div>Same!  The only red wine that I've found I like is pinot noir. </div>

  • I try to read the descriptions that are sometimes listed, but I feel like it's reading an anatomy book, lol. I just need more practice, right? lol

I'll check out a Pinot Noir sometime and see how that is.

  • I've had Two Buck Chuck and it actually wasn't awful! We don't have Trader Joe's up here, but someone snuck some up from Washington last fall. I actually really wish we had TJ's up here. :( I'm really curious about a good 'training' red as well. I had an Italian red that I liked that my voice teacher brought back from Italy, but I can't remember what type it was. I'd also like to know about a nice white that's not too dry. Please, and if Andrew doesn't mind, that is. Thanks for doing a s/o thread Lunar! :)
