WP Shoes

FI decided on the shoes that he and the groomsmen will be wearing.

He is a marathon runner and he has always wanted to wear running shoes for his wedding. Won't it look nice with this tux?

Hahaha... Oh my! His mom hates the idea of running shoes for this wedding. He and the groomsmen may end up wearing dress shoes up until his mom is seated for the wedding. After that, they will quickly change into their running shoes while my mom is seated.

That's funny. I personally wouldn't like that look, but I do think it's cute when couple's personalities shine through in their weddings. I'm not a runner so it wouldn't work for me, but since he's big into it I think he should go for it! Mom is entitled to her opinion, but it's not her wedding.

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of the shoes, but it is one of the 2 things he really wants for the wedding. I can't deny him these little things. :)

You know what, I love it. I'm wth allusive on this one - it's cool when people let their personality shine through in their wedding and on their wedding day. So, more power to your FI!

I love the idea of your Fi's personality showing through with the shoes.  If they all wear the same running shoes, I think it will look great!

Ha, I can see my BF doing that. We're both runners and triathletes, so that would fit our personalities. He'd probably wear dress shoes for the wedding, but then change into running shoes for the reception.

PS I totally thought this thread was going to be about shoes for the bridesmaids and I was going to implore you not to make your bridesmaids buy dyeable shoes. My sister made us do that and it was the biggest waste of $65 ever. I hated them, wore them for three hours, no one could see them under the full-length dresses, then changed into the $12 flip flops my sister gave the BMs for the reception. Waste waste waste (yes, it's been almost five years and I'm still bitter...) Money mouth

I've seen loads of WP's with Chuck Taylor's on so why not? I was thinking about getting FI some NikeID for our wedding but I'm not so sure about then during the ceremony, definitely for the reception though. Hopefully they'll match my Uggs.. I may just have to get some NIKEID for myself and have them say Bride and Groom on the back ;)

If it's going to upset mumsy, could they do it for the reception and not the ceremony? It might be awkward to do a quick change between sitting mom down and the actual ceremony.

Yeah, he wanted the bridesmaids to all wear running shoes also, but I, nor my bridesmaids, are runners. I told him he and his groomsmen can wear running shoes (they are all runners, so it makes sense).

MLekathLEEN--I was thinking about doing Uggs for my bridesmaids as part of their gift since it is a winter wedding!

Cu97-- I have had to buy waaaaay too many pairs of dyeable shoes for weddings that were ruined because of rain. I told all my girls to wear something silver. They loved it because 3 out of the 4 already own silver shoes.

A friend of mine from high school just got married and her MOH wore Uggs after the ceremony. I love this picture of them (and how her Uggs matched.)

What's the other thing your FI wants for the wedding?

He really wants milkshakes and sliders to be served at about 10:30pm during the end of the reception. We are always hungry at the end of weddings, and we went to a wedding where they did this. He loved the idea. I think its a good thing to serve people people a snack at the end of the night.

I don't care what my hypothetical fiance has to say about it I will be wearing these:

In a color that matches my dress of course.  I sincerely doubt that I'll be wearing white since I'm neither traditional nor virginal :)

Aw I think that is cute.  I was really annoyed that my BF had to wear Toms for his brother’s wedding....  But whatever it made his brother happy, except that he paid $65 for a pair of shoes he will never wear again.... oh well.   Funny how it is cool for your wedding but annoying in his brother’s wedding.  But it seems to make sense because your FI is a runner along with all of his groomsmen.  In the wedding I am in next month we are all wearing converse.  Which is cool because it is an outdoor wedding. :)
