Not Engaged Yet

The beebee is strong with this one...

Fresh from the students board...and I apparently seem to be the only detractor.

Basically, she wants to get married at 20 or 21, with at least two years left of undergrad, and everyone's telling her to wait.

What is with that chick that said the married women do better because they have their husbands support? That's absurd - no amount of my DH's support is going to make me any smarter

Nor will you get more support b/c you're married.  Your partner should support you to their best extent no matter what!

    Silly beebees

I know. I get good grades because I bust my tush studying and doing the work, and have been doing so for years. The fact that BF supports me (as well as my parents and close friends) only makes me want to work harder. But I would be doing well without them.

I'm with you zane - when I graduated college DH and I had only been dating for 4 months. Did I do well because I had a support system? Kind of - it helped knowing there were people I could talk to when I got stressed out but in the end I had something to prove to myself and that was my motivation to do well. I landed myself in academic probabtion my first semester of college and I worked my ass of for the next 4 years to graduate with the GPR I ended up with. Could I have graduated with honors if I hadn't effed up my first year? Absolutely, and that is the consequence I have to accept for my apathy

Wow - that got long but I feel better having gotten that out

Hey, I know how you feel.

I also know how it is to have a man bring you down with regards to school. A guy I was seeing (we never quite got to BF/GF, which was a blessing in retrospect) really managed to screw with my head and it seriously affected my school work as a result. Not everyone is supportive, and I sincerely doubt he would have changed if we had gotten engaged/married. If anything, it probably would have gotten worse.

Yeah my BF at the time wanted to spend every waking moment with me and since I was so smitten I just neglected my school work. Jeez I was a dumb 18 y/o

    You people are crazy!

Before I met BF I could barely tie my shoes I was so dumb, the very second he started shooting me with his super smart man juice I disproved quantum  shell theory  while I was distracted by the appendectomy I was performing on a toucan.

But seriously I look back to when I was 22. I would have seriously had zero business being married then. Wow. Granted that was one of the most fun years of my life. I drastically changed from when I was 21 -24 its crazy. I'm glad I was mainly single from 21-24. I got to do what I wanted when I wanted with whom I wanted how I wanted. It was incredible to only have to be concerned about myself.

I know. I went to dinner with my mom and had a cocktail. Then she came back here for a bit, now I'm all by my lonesome for the evening. Damn I need to put the computer down and get a cocktail already.

You can either cut down the largest tree in the forest with a herring.

Or you must sacrifice a beebee on an alter made entirely of buttons.

Button, if it makes up for it, I was drinking water when I read the super smart man juice comment.

And I'll just go ahead and stay out of the baseball fight. The Mets are being the Mets. As one of my dad's favorite radio station DJ's said a few years back: "The Mets lost their first series of the season; and here I was worried they'd gotten rusty over the winter."
