So I've mostly been a lurker here with some interspersed comments, but in my excitement I just wanted to share with you all (and well the whole world really! lol) that after 5 1/2 years together, my bf proposed to me this past Sunday!

He planned the most romantic weekend up in the Finger Lakes. He rented an incredible house with a fireplace that was right on the lake. We spent the whole weekend fishing, building bonfires, visiting wineries and hiking. Then on Sunday, as we built a bonfire and enjoyed some of the local wine while we watched the sunset, he proposed!

Anyway, I just wanted to thank all you ladies... all the posts and advice truly helped to keep me in check and to just enjoy the moments leading up to this. Aside from that, you gals provide a lot of entertainment. So thanks again! Ok I guess I'll go back to my lurking spot in the corner now

WRKN925, is that what it's called, a halo? Thanks for that, maybe now I can explain the ring a bit better to people. I'm a bit of a spaz when it comes to jewelry terminology, so I'm just like well there's a diamond in the middle with umm a square of little diamonds around/beneath it. I say that from the side it looks kind of like a rook/castle :P

Well, when I came here I said I wanted a square diamond with that little border thingy of smaller diamonds, and someone shared those terms with me.
So, I think that's correct.  Stick around, you'll learn all kinds of cool stuff.

Question:  did you know the proposal was coming this weekend?  It sounds like he really went out of his way, so I was wondering if you were suspicious at any point.

Thanks everyone!  Sorry to be replying so late, wasn't really online this weekend.

Elle, I did have my suspicions- I am the one who does most of the legwork for our vacation planning, so it did raise a few flags for me when he said that he wanted to go away, had already chosen where and when, and mapped out things for us to do there. I was like, who is this person?   But I didn't want to be presumptuous or be disappointed with the weekend if it didn't happen, so I tried (somewhat unsuccessfully hahaha) to put it out of my head. The weekend was just so amazing though, that as wonderful as the proposal was, it was just icing on the cake. It would have been a perfect weekend regardless.
