Public proposal is a very risky business even after dating. At least to me, not a good idea for either party.

Ouch! Although sometimes I have such a hard time believing some of these are real. :(

I also question the intentions. Why does the man feel the need to make a big show out of it? I guess I've never been a fan of public proposals, but to each their own!

Because they try to make it to this big thing that will probably be featured on every news station and it blows up in their face......

I wonder if that's real.  If it is, then poor guy.

Some girls like to be the center of attention and love the idea of public proposals.  I hate the idea, but I have to say, even if a guy did that to me and I did not want to marry him, I would probably say yes and then break it off in private.

i went to the site and they all look set up.

Edit: a lot of them look set up
Second edit:after reading the rules and looking at the videos i guess you can recreate the proposal.

I had a coworker who used to apply the public proposal analogy to business. His thought was if you do something like that in public, the person being asked feels he/she must say yes (though you run the risk of them rescinding later).

Fake or not, it's still horrible in every way. Public proposals are dumb (IMO).

A proposal is the kind of thing that I think, you should NOT ask, unless you are 100% positive it's going to be the anwser you want to hear.

FI had a friend who got completely ahead of himself and proposed to this chick after 5 months of dating, totally freaked her out (they were sooo not even close to that stage yet) that she dumped him and wouldn't even talk to him anymore.

I get public proposals if say, you met or your first date was at some concert, or sporting event, bla bla bla and it holds some sort of meaning to your relationship, but to randomly do it just because you want an audience is super cheesy to me.  If you need people "oohing and awwing" over your proposal to make it special, that's probably a sign that you are missing something pretty important in your relationship.

I agree with jemmini, you should not ask someone to marry you unless you are 100% positive they will say YES.
