Oceana, I saw in the "4 years and counting" thread that you used to sing competitively. I didn't want to threadjack over there, but I would like to know more. What type of music? Do you still do this? Would you please tell us about an interesting competition?

I also love to sing and am a pop/gospel/musical theatre kind of girl (though I had to do some opera in college).

I was in a performance choir all through high school...we used to compete every year for the OMEA (Ohio Music Educators Association), and we were ranked one of the top choirs in the state during the years I was in it. I would also solo competition through OMEA as well - got two Superior One soloist rankings.

I did some choral singing in college, but I pretty much dropped out of solo stuff. For whatever reason, I get horrible, horrible stage fright/nerves when I sing solo, and it got to a point where the solo stuff just wasn't enjoyable for me anymore.

My background was pretty much classical/traditional choral music, but I did some gospel and musical theater as well.
